OT-Turn off the TV week

Postby Angiekay » Fri Apr 18, 2008 3:06 am

Winter is finally over...spring is here!! Get yer ass off the couch and go do something fun!

Do you have what it takes to go a week without television? The people at the TV-Turnoff Network hope you do. Monday (April 21) begins National TV Turnoff Week. Now in its 14th year, National TV Turnoff Week encourages Americans to voluntarily turn off their TVs for seven days in order to promote richer, healthier, and more connected lives, families, and communities. Millions of people all over the world have participated in TV-Turnoff Week since it began in 1995. Children and adults, rich and poor - people from every background and all walks of life - take part through schools, churches, or community groups, as families or individuals

My kids' school is doing that, but the following week. We made it through 5 days last year without tv/computer. Well I should say the KIDS made it through. It was tough to keep them occupied but we did it.

If my daughter's school tries to make this a homework assignment, it's a good thing I'll be in Vegas until Wednesday! I could probably handle it, but why should I? My poor daughter would lose her mind. Whatever would she do if she had to go a week without Spongebob while she ate her breakfast?

And I'd bet my spleen and aorta that the Wigglerettes sleep with the Food Channel on. No fucking doubt about it.

There are some good shows on that channel once in a while. Saw a great show on making your own beer and another show on different beers from around the country.

Same here, almost no TV at all anymore. If you ask me to turn of the computer for a week, I think I'd need rehab.
I like to sit out on the front porch, where the birds can see me, eating a plate of scrambled eggs, just so they know what I'm capable of.
