Velvet Revolver following Journey's footsteps?

Postby Angiekay » Tue Apr 22, 2008 12:22 am

Velvet Revolver guitarist Slash told Billboard.com on Friday (April 18th) that the band is considering finding a new lead vocalist through the Internet in the wake of Scott Weiland's dismissal earlier this month. Slash explained, "The band is actually talking about actually building a Web site (and) doing some auditions via that, so that's been something that's developing at this point." The guitarist added that the site should be going live sometime "in the next month or so."

The band announced it was parting ways with Weiland on April 1st, shortly after he told an audience in Glasgow, Scotland that they were watching "the last tour by Velvet Revolver."
The singer will be on the road this summer with his previous band, Stone Temple Pilots, who will be playing together for the first time since 2002.
Slash told Billboard that he doesn't have anyone in mind yet to replace Weiland, adding, "It's one of those kind of situations where you can't really explain it to anybody because you'll know it when you hear it."
Velvet Revolver does have an upcoming show booked in Las Vegas, for which the band will recruit some well-known but as yet unnamed friends to take turns on the microphone.

Interesting. Although I assumed they would be going with a already well known singer..

Good lord Slash... don't embarrass yourselves with something like this.

The fact that they stayed with Weiland as long as they did was embarrassing enough. It should be fun with the well known yet un named singers at the mike. I think it's hard enough to be in the business and if there's some chance to have a bit of fun...why not?

It was a rumor that he was in the running when they were first looking for a vocalist, but aparently that rumor was squashed... Who knows...

JSS would be the ideal fit. Sadly that cannot happen.

Dude, I hate to say it but you're right, JSS would be an excellent fit for that gig. What's the deal?

I have a recall of Bach talking about it back at the time... he was (allegedly) the next choice if they didn't pick Weiland. I think he mentioned it on his website. (and just what was I doing on Bach's website is beside the point, 'k?)

i think JSS fronting velvet revolver would be a blast,no more ego issues like they had with scott weiland plus new blood that could get the band back on solid footing.i think they could make one hell of an album plus the concert experience would be awesome.i think slash and JSS would make a great pair.

As much as I see that being a cool move and one I'd love to see...VR are managed by Azoff. Azoff = Journey.

JSS is better fronting Queen. One day.
