Would Perry record with Schon again if . . .

If money wasn't an object and a multi billionaire offered Perry to name his price, do you think it could happen? I know all the voice arguments so to save on some of that, there's no covers or tour involved.

On the other side of it, now that they have Pineda, would Schon even entertain it?

Or is it really NO MOre TAils for Perry?

I think that Perry returning to Journey would be a tiny blip in the general entertainment realm, hardly worth anyone offering a fortune to make happen.

If it ever happened, I don't think it would be about the money, it would be about the creativity. IMO, the only way I could ever see that happening is if the 2 of them got rid of the whole Journey machine around them......and sat down as friends with no pressure and see what came out of them.

Not as a business decision. A rich fan offers it for another Perry/Schon collaboration. Like when Gates paid the Stones millions to use "Start Me Up" at the Windows 95 release party.

I agree that, if it EVER happened, that it would boil down to the
chemistry and creativity between "two friends" and not the money.
Kinda like Page & Plant did in the 90's.
Only hard thing for them to argue about would be the name:
"Perry & Schon" or "Schon & Perry"

I also agree that it would be better to do something away from
the Journey Machine...
For some reason I get the feeling that Perry would rather
never work w/Cain again; I think there is
some bad mojo/bad blood between those two...

I realize in Loondom Cain is the absolute AntiChrist but the scenario can never happen w/out Jonathan Cain.

I got nothing against Cain in that regard. I just think MOST of the magic/chemistry originally came from Perry/Schon.

For those 2 to knock out one like "Patiently" right away on very first meet......there is obvious chemistry there.

JoePa,
I'm a Looney-Wigglin'-Sototarian that DOESN'T think Friga is the AntiChrist.
A fruitcake or power-monger maybe, but not the AntiChrist...

I just get the feeling that the Perry/Cain relationship is kinda like
the Herbie/Perry relationship or the Herbie/Cain relationship...

Herbie would NEVER admit to having something in common w/Perry
but their feelings about Cain may be the same

Couldn't agree with you more, Deb. And I could absolutely see that happening. Even Lennon and McCartney would occasionally pal around in the 70's without band pressure...or the public's knowledge. Does anyone remember the Saturday Night Live skit, when Lorne Michaels offered money to the Beatles to reunite on SNL? Turns out L&M were watching the show together at Lennon's place and were THISCLOSE to actually stopping by...but canned the idea last minute.

At this point, "the offer" to Perry has been rescinded anyway. Schon and Cain are gonna ride this thing out with Pineda.

Your'e not pure, Hooks.
Rather, a Journey fan mutt.
The Augeri (whom Cain still stands by) part of your fandom DNA keeps you from hating Cain.

Gotta be a pure bred Loon or a hybrid Loon/JSS Assassin like say an OhSharpton to have the Cain hate gene live and thrive within.

No, I don't think it will every happen. They definitely had magic/chemistry together..."that voice and that guitar"..."salt and pepper".

I don't know that I agree with the assumption that Perry hates Cain. If you watch the behind the music special, you'll note Perry first reached out to Cain for the TBF reunion. My memory might be faulty on this point, but didn't Cain also insinuate that he was a big peace maker in the band? If that's correct, to me, that sounds like the majority conflict is between Neal and Perry (even though Neal seemed to come to Perry with hat in hand at the WOF ceremony asking him to come down and sing that evening).

Either way, this kind of reunion will never happen. Perry's not interested in recording let alone being back with Journey.

I don't think it was ever NO MOre TAils for Perry. He rocked the tails plenty on his own.
I think it's NO MOre JOurney for Perry.

Not long ago I think I said "never", but I'm curious, given the current state of things, if the urge would ever be there to undo the damage. I might think it possible were it not for those re-recorded songs. If it were ME, the re-records would probably be the dealbreaker for ever coming back. I would feel like "no way - you jacked all up now, dudes, wtf were you thinking."

But only one man knows and he ain't talking so... *shrug* Who knows.

Ya know, my gut is that when he hears the new album, he'll want to come out of retirement just like he did before in '96. When he got wind of Journey reforming with Chalfant & Rolie, all of the sudden, he wanted to do Journey again. Don't know if it was a control thing, or a true burning desire, but he jumped right back in to the middle of it. I've got a feeling that he might (if he doesn't feel his age limiting him) do this again. He'll hear all this great new music and he'll see the cash that WalMart is throwing at them, and I guarantee you, he'll get on the phone.

I honestly believe in 'never say never'. We'll see.

later~

Too many people to respond to at once so I'll do it all in one post. Neal and Jon are simply guys that want to work, record and tour, and merely ask that anyone else in the band expect to do the same. If they have any fault at all it's being too loyal and hanging on to worn out singers that can't carry their weight any longer. Well, that and not giving a Chuck E. Cheese's send off to singers that they decide to move on without.

I understand what you're saying, but I disagree. Perry jumped in at that time to stop the "stone from being cracked" when they were thinking of reforming without him. That ship has long since sailed and he knows the only reunion Schon and Cain would entertain would be one that included touring. Perry just isn't up for that and I'm pretty sure, it's the thing that ended the TBF reunion too.

Difference being, a lot has happened since then. They're on their 3rd singer since him and whatever damage he may have felt was going to be done by them moving on has already been done. IF and I mean IIIIFFFFFF that was his reason for jumping back in the first time (to prevent a reform), that ship is long gone now. However he may dislike what's happened, coming back isn't going to undo it or change things. What it will do is make a ton of cashola, but if that was his interest, he's had 10 years to jump upon it and hasn't done so.

When I met SP, I was wearing a dress that had shoulder pads (more like light shaper type pads - it was 1995) The guy sticks his hand on my shoulder - do you know what I would have given to have been wearing a sleeveless dress right then? :D
