While listening to Sirius yesterday.....

listening to the Big 80's channel. Mark Goodman starts to lead into Open Arms when he added an interesting tidbit of info. Said former lead singer Steve Perry has been in the studio recently and has recorded new music and a new solo CD will be forthcoming. I know its been mentioned on here before with differents points of view, one being Steve recorded this stuff in the distant past and has now decided to release it but according to Goodman hes been in the studio recording lately. The reality hit me that we will have a new Journey CD in just over 1 week now and a new Steve Perry CD sometime this year!!!! What a wonderful time to be a Journey fan and I am stoked about Steve and new material. I am as excited about that as I am Revelation.

I'd be first in line for that one. Hopefully it will feature Prairie Prince on drums, George Tickner on guitar, and Randy Jackson on bass. :D

Either way.. this is a good year for music for me already, and if Perry puts out a new disc.... I'mma spooge.

It's been a really solid year for music already. My wallet has taken a hit, but it's been worth it. There's a lot of good stuff on the horizon, too.

I've got my fingers crossed that Jeremey might be releasing some new stuff also. Along with JSS and SA, yea, there's a lot to look forward to.

I LOVE Jeremeys music. I would definetly have that one! Also would love to hear something new from Rollie. It would be nice if Perry would issue a press release about the CD over on Fan Asylum or even drop Andrew a line. Maybe a time frame of when we can expect this?

The moon must be in the seventh house...anyone know if Jupiter is aligning with Mars?

Seriously, JSS, SA AND SP in the same freaking year? I'm down with all three CDs!

The preceding statement assumes that Steve Perry is actually recording. Should this not be the case, please disregard. Thank you.

Granted, it is just a handful of fans, but you can gauge by the tone of some the posts just how much credibility Steve Perry has lost throughout the years. I guess Journey and the handful of mistakes/lies they've been a part of get much more criticism because they actually fuck you while you're looking.

And a good, smart, and maybe even prick move (but one I could appreciate) would be a Steve Perry tour... supported by Steve Augeri and Tall Stories and maybe as an added bonus Jeff Scott Soto. IF Perry is in the business of sticking it to Journey, this would be the move to make. Have the Perry Loons and Wigglers all on the same side. I'm sure the Schon/Cain bashers would love it. Also, like I said, add a Soto to the mix and it would really be a free for all then. Then again, Perry may feel threatened to have the greatest performer of all-time, JSS on the same bill with him.

Don't take this the wrong way, and I loved and miss the old MTV too, but let's not overvalue Mark Goodman. He was hosting an Illinois Lottery show about 15 years ago. So, although his career may be back on track, let's not think he's a major player like he used to be too.

You're way behind the power curve

I've been screaming for a
"Bastards Of Journey" Tour since last year!

The Bill would be:
Chalfant, Augeri, Soto and Rolie with Perry headlining
limited engagements in the bigger markets

The backing band for ALL performances would be:
Brewster / Ramos - Guitar
Randy Jackson - Bass
Smitty - Drums
Rolie/Paul Taylor/Soto - Keys

I'm trying to keep it REALISTIC. Perry and Augeri (Tall Stories), I think could work and at least be possible. Augeri would play about 8 songs total. A couple of Tall Stories, 5 Augeri era JRNY songs, and maybe one or two classic Perry wouldn't perform. I don't think Rolie would tour with Perry and vice versa. Chalfant (Storm) wouldn't really be necessary and in a way would be a little stretch. He could get Jackson to play bass as long as it didn't conflict w/ AI. Smith would probably not want tour and rather stick with Vital Info. Paul Taylor and Brewster are possible, but Taylor should be touring with Winger, IMO.

Dude,
You DEFINITELY need to come down off the high horse
and take a break from this board when you start
seriously analyzing and breaking down a post as
"tongue-in-cheek" as my last one...

BTW, your idea was as unrealistic as mine...
Perry would NEVER tour w/ a former "replacement" of him
nor would he EVER allow someone else to sing ANY Journey songs
on the same bill as he was on.

I remember Goodman. He was the veejay on air at the Houston Escape show. He was on briefly in the beginning of the original MTV broadcast as the band ran by him onto the stage, but the scene was cut from the DVD. Pissed me off. :x

As far as a new CD goes, I believe it. Doubtful on a supporting tour, though.
