Steve Perry's "Melody"

Hey all... Happy Saturday \~/

I'm listening to his song right now on headphones....but, not your "walkman"-type ones:

I found a Studio Headphone set from Mark's gear: the old-fashioned type that COMPLETELY cover both ears.

And all I can say is:

MY GOD ~ if Steve could sound this good NOW ~ then RELEASE YOUR SONGS, dammit.

The way he does the last "melody, I still reach foraaaah ah ah ah you", is his style and inflection in a nutshell......I can listen to that over and over......Great song!

he is the master of the "whoa who whoa whos"......

Steve still has a great set of pipes, but unfortunately he'll never sound like he did on "Melody" again. He can probably come close, but that was recorded many years ago. I'm with you though...I wish he'd just put out a freaking album!!! He could sing a song about how much he loves his damn cat and I'd buy it!

Absolutely! I'd buy another of cd with this kind of material any day! He could easily sing at this level again. Hopefully we'll get to find out soon enough.

He sounds great and it is a nice song. It has a Kenny G vibe, but probably not the type of music Journey is interested in as much. My thought is that anyone expecting a melodic rock CD from Perry will be dissapointed. This song probably represents the type of music he has been into for a long, long time. I enjoyed FTLOSM for a while but I never listen to it anymore. There is plenty of easy listening music in the world but not enough quality rock and roll. Peter Cetera and others all do a nice job of filling the easy listening niche. Perry would blow most of them out of the water in that arena and he would probably have a lot of commercial success too.

Glad to see that everyone knows his level of singing these days.

Let me know when you start predicting the lottery :D

And Melody is one of my favorites.

On the flip-side of Melody, Harmony (from the Street Talk bonus disc) is another of my favorites.

Harmony...Melody....two great words to associate with Mr. P!

You haven't listened to music until you heard it on "Bose QuietComfort 2" headphones....Unfrickenbelievable.
