That's about 15 minutes south of where my brother and sister live. They live in Holland. Last summer my wife and I took a drive down there, while visiting. Nice little town. Why?

When we went they had a pretty nice outdoor art sale going on through town. They were selling some pretty neat hand made stuff there also. Not sure how often stuff like that goes on though.

Why would you stay there if you're visiting Illinois? I live 5 minutes from Lake Michigan. Fire your vacation planner. He/she sucks!!!  :P

Oh yeah, right on the lake. I'm taking my wife and son up to Traverse City tomorrow for a little getaway in a hotel right on the lake. 8) $95 a night beachfront, you can't beat it. :D

Gotcha. You're essentially staying between Grand Rapids and Chicago. Nice part of the world in between.

What's the nearest Airport?

We might have to fly into Detroit, according to Mark.....how far is Saugatuck from there?

Probably about 3-4 hours. Grand Rapids has an airport that's only an hour or so away. If the fares aren't much more you'd probably be better off flying into GR.

Nobody ever comes to Windsor and it's not farther than 3 hrs from most of these places mentioned in posts.
I know you all hate us Canucks anyway.

Don't say that Moon! My great grand parents were from Quebec! I'm about 2 hrs north of Windsor. I love it there! Was the place to be when I was young and couldn't drink here!! Oh the memories!

Gereeeene, my friends and I are looking for a random place to road trip to for 4th of July weekend... the only suggestion so far has been Iowa. I'd much rather come see you... did they change the border laws yet? What paperwork does one need to cross? (I don't feel like googling it.) :)

Here ya go Rhi........

NEW PASSPORT REGULATIONS FOR PERSONS ARRIVING IN THE U.S. OR RE-ENTERING THE US, FROM CANADA, BY LAND AND SEA.

Presently, the regulations governing U.S. and Canadian citizens traveling to, or returning to the U.S. from Canada, by land and sea, remain unchanged; all U.S. and Canadian Citizens crossing the U.S. and Canadian border by land and sea must be prepared to show either a passport, or other proof of citizenship such as a birth certificate, and a government-issued photo-ID such as a drivers license. A driver’s license is never proof of citizenship, of course, but can serve as documentation of the bearer’s identity in support of other proof of citizenship.

For resident aliens, an original green card is proof of permanent U.S. residence and, together with a photo-ID, will also suffice.

It's a very nice tourist city with lots of bed and breakfast residences. It is on the lake and situated between Holland and close to Grand Rapids Michigan; and about 120 miles from Chicago. You can fly into Kalamazoo Airport or into Grand Rapids to get to a closer destination then Detroit cause that would be about a 2 hour drive to Saugatuck for you. It's a lovely lake side village and it does have a substantial gay community but don't let that be the reason not to visit the lovely village by the water.

I was going to be there with bells on until one of my best friends from Virgina booked a flight to Chicago that very weekend. ...She starts summer classes the week after that weekend and can't come visit any other time, and I've vowed not to go home until Christmas if I can help it, so I'm gonna show her my city. Me and my friends are planning a big field trip to Wrigley Field and Navy Pier, ya know all the touristy crap. 8)

You all will certainly call me from the shows though. That's an order. :)
