I know many of us were sceptical about Caveman's pronouncements about the new music and Arnel. After listening to the new music, all I can say is sorry if we doubted you. The new music is fantastic and Arnel is "The Bomb". The sound quality on this CD also shines. Nice warm sound with great clarity. Thanks for making a CD with great sound quality and not the static of "Loudness Wars" that are so prevalent. So, when's the followup CD coming!

The sound is great, but the producer's job doesn't end with the sound. That is what people seem to forget. That's why I think that Shirley is an average producer but an awesome sound engineer and mixer.

Andrew seems to like that we actually hear feedback guitar on one song... I think that is a big mistake. Feedback never sound good in a studio record (unless it fits the song, this is not the case here).

I heard that feedback too and went WTF? Oh well. Gotta live with the warts I guess.

Ditto. Couldn't agree more. Great job Caveman!

I ripped mp3s to put on my iPod and the sound through the ipod on the car stereo is amazing! I had it SO LOUD and it was crystal clear. It really does feel like a concert at times.

I wish every Journey CD sounded this good.

The sound quality is good and a welcome upgrade from Arrival, but I have to say, SERIOUS points subtracted for the audible click track that is all over the place on the re-records and so far I've heard it on the beginning of After All These Years. That is an embarrassing blunder. I wouldn't have made that mistake with my first DAT I ever mastered to stereo. Christ.

I haven't bothered with the re-records, my dog is having too much fun with it as a chew toy. :D

That being said, on AATY, I think you're listening with an ear towards analysis rather than hearing the song as a whole.

Haven't heard it on AATY but Drew and Shirley himself have explained
that the re-record disc is pretty "raw".
It was recorded fairly quick in Friga's studio and
Shirley did some "minor" tweaking.
It DID NOT get, nor was it ever intended to get,
the same high-quality "polishing" as the
album of new material.

No use bitching about the sound quality on the re-records
because they were never intended to sound much better anyway...

What kind of messed-up dog do you have?
Don't have my CD's yet, but my dog wouldn't come anywhere near such an unholy piece of shit. ;)
We're both super-stoked for the new stuff, though.
