This is the Gratuitous, Knees-bent, Groveling Advancing-Behaviour, Begging Steve Perry to Release the Dang CD Already Thread.
Sigh.
OK. 1998. I can REMEMBER the excitement of hearing that Journey was touring… and then finding out Steve wasn’t part of the band anymore. Having never had a chance to SEE a Journey concert with Perry at the helm (nor his Strange Meds tour) due to being married to a guy for 13 years whose idea of real rock & roll was Bad Bad Leroy Brown, I was, quite frankly, devastated. I bet I could get off on a murder rap (killing the ex for egregious harm for making me miss a Perry-led Journey). I saw the new line up, in 1999, but my heart wasn’t there. I wanted to see the Voice in action.
Jeff gave me new excitement, as I really liked what he brought to the table, but even that wasn’t to last. So, one more time, there’s one more incarnation of Journey… fine. Whatever. I’ve already had my say on that subject.
What I REALLY WANT is that dang CD Steve is screwing around with.
I’ve already resigned myself to NEVER seeing Perry sing live. Ever. And doesn’t THAT just kill me. But, here’s he’s got songs written, sung, recorded and demoed. And doesn't that make me green ... to have heard that... amazing. Anywho...
So here it is. I’m BEGGING. PLEADING. GROVELING. I’ve smudged the house and have incense burning. I've two sons I've no problem selling into slave labour for this. Cheap! They whine a lot, but just throw some nachos every once in a while at them and they'll hush down. I’m planning on marketing this sucker all over the US and shoving into the hands of anyone who says Oh I remember Steve…
AND I’m putting myself up for Huge ass ripping on Melodicrock of all places, just to beg this man to release the dang CD. (now That’s dedication to an artist).
Please. Steve. Just one frickin new release.
Please. Pretty please. Sugar, Sweet & low, cherries, chocolate sauce, whatever on top. PURTY PLEASE.
(grovel)… (grovel)…(grovel)
Sigh. Rip away.

Yeah, I wanna hear that music...he can stay retired though...he doesn't have to tour.
Just put it on the internet if you don't need the mega-money, Mr. P. I'd send something from my funds to download it.

Didn't SP mention something...sometime...many moons ago...about putting something out for download on a music site?
Would you travel to California to see SP sing? Weekends only? That way he wouldn't have to tour and could have a nice rest in between since he's so aged.

hmm... I don't recal Perry ever saying he was gonna "release" anything.... so for the sake of "clarity".....
Lori and Cindy's post... straight from the thread in MR (
http://forums.melodicrock.com/phpBB/vie ... highlight= )
We had lunch with Steve a few weeks ago and he played us some recent demos he has been working on. We have heard him sing.....recently. He has definitely not lost his gift - the ability to touch the listener's heart. It is subjective as to whether or not you prefer the soaring vocals of Infinity or the timbre/texture of his voice on later albums, but he has the same amazing voice that beautifully conveys the feel and message of each song.
There are no confirmed plans for these songs, so we haven't commented on this subject before. It's up to Steve as to when/if he is ready to put new material out. After hearing the demos, we can only hope they will see the light of day sometime down the road.
From Perry's GQ interview....
GQ: Are you working on anything now?
Steve Perry: I started writing music again, at the beginning of last summer. I had not opened that up in over ten years. I was reluctant to try to write some more, but now I’ve been doing that, and it’s been a real experience. I got ProTools, and I’m working on stuff. I’m not sure what I’m gonna do with it yet, but I got a lot of material, and a lot of it I really like. I’m in the boil-down process. I got these ProTools sketches of songs, and I guess it’s time to record some of ‘em. I guess I have a desire to sing and write music again, and I’m letting it take me places. It’s been painful. Sometimes, when I hear myself sing, I sound like Steve Perry, and sometimes that has a lot of memories attached to it. I’m serious. I just told somebody that, a couple weeks ago, a writer that I’m working with—my own voice is sometimes difficult to hear. Because it reminds me of so much. But I’m embracing it. And I’ve played some of the stuff for friends, and for some people that aren’t afraid to tell me the truth. And they’ve really liked it. It sounds like me, they’ve said. And that’s great. It’s been a love-hate thing. All creative processes are a love-hate thing. Anything worth anything has got to be that way. Right?
now.. I would love for Perry to do ANYTHING... record a fart and release it already...

I'm green that Lora & Cyndy got to hear him singing.....couldn't I just have a little listen?

I'm bummed that I missed it all, so it's my fault...would've loved to have seen FTLOSM tour.
