RIIIIIIIIIIIICK!!!!!! Bought Venus In Overdrive a while back, and loved it. Had gotten Karma also several months ago, but never really listened to it until a long road trip a week ago. Was equally impressed, and my favorite song on it has to be the title track -- just a great tune. I need to break out S.D.A.A. again and give it a good listen -- I picked that up after seeing him play a few years ago, but never really dug into it too much.

So now, just bought VIP tickets to an upcoming Rick show and they were a steal -- $10 each at this particular venue and I'll probably get front row. But I noticed they sell 2 special meet n greet passes on his site -- soundcheck passes for $295 and at every show they put 2 seats on the stage at the side that are sold for $795 each -- YIKES, but I remember people sitting in those seats at the show I went to before, and they had a blast. Thinking about getting the soundcheck pass at least... lol.

Rick's got a lot more talent than people give him credit for. He's riding a bit of a comeback wave in recent years, so good for him.

I'm hoping to catch one of his shows as soon as the driving distance becomes reasonable.

Springfield is SO underrated.
Pick up Shock Denial Anger or whatever it's called. DAMN that is a monster album.
Same with Karma, Same with Rock of Life, same with Living in Oz...

haha, well, there are no album covers these days, so if I don't have my cover art turned on, I forget long album names.

Shock Denial Anger Acceptance

Okay, I was close. Seriously, brilliant album.

I MISS album covers.

Venus was a great album indeed... the first two songs on there (Victoria's Secret and I'll Miss That Someday) are modern MR perfection if you ask me. Rick retains his classic sound but also sounds modern somehow. I'd love to catch him live. One of my favorite Springfield classics is State of the Heart (different from Affair of the Heart)

Great moody 80s vibe..

Yea I have a permanent scar on my leg from Rick Springfield. I remember in sophomore year my best girl friend and i and about 10 of our guy friends loaded up in a van and got drunk and went to see Rick live as he was our hero. I was standing up on the folding chair and jumped up when he came out on stage and slipped through the chair and this big bolt took I swear about half of an inch out of my leg and even drunk it hurt terribly. I still stayed and screamed and acted crazy while tears rolled down my face from the pain. I swear it hurt for months but was so worth it! I would love to see him again!!

Be prepared for inflation. A VIP package costs an arm and a leg, now...

Nowadays....Springfield walks out into the crowd. He goes everywhere and when I last saw him at Pala, where I'll be seeing Journey late July, he lost his balance and my wife pushed him up to re-balance him. I slapped high fives with him. All the girls around us...they wanted to fondle him.

No one can write a melodic song like him, he has a way with lyrics that are in awe sometimes (Karma / Rock of Life CD's).

"Rock of Life" and "In Veronica's Head" are two examples how you write a melodic rock song.

Very underrated and great to see live - Every time he comes to town we make sure we catch him.

Rick is one of the best in the business and the new CD is great. "Saint Sahara " gets to me every time I listen to that song.

I saw him in St. Louis last year and he was awesome. He was all in the crowd, smashing his guitars and other stuff. He sounded great and didn't look too bad either.

I saw Rick Springfield at the California State Fair in 2006 after my Journey California Road Trip. I have always loved his songs and thought he was good looking but was not a huge fan. I thought his show was kind of cheesy when he takes the roses some girl gives him and he shakes them all over the stage and out into the audience. He really rocked though and he came out into the crowd and got up on a pedastal about 5 feet away from where I was standing. I got some great pictures of him! :)

Post the pics! :) He takes the roses and windmills his guitar with them during "Affair of the Heart". My wife skipped the show so I brought 3 of the rose petals home to her. Same for me a few years ago -- he was about 5 feet from me in the crowd and I have a photo somewhere, but this time I was on the front row and he climbed into the audience right next to me. I took some pretty blurry shots of it.
