I'm going to go see the movie "Public Enemies" tomorrow. I've been waiting to see this movie for a year now. I was lucky enough to acquire the white shirt Johnny Depp wore in the movie from the movie company.

Have a great 4th everybody.

I'm also looking forward to seeing it this weekend. They filmed quite a bit of this movie in Wisconsin. The really cool thing is that the shoot out scene between the gangsters and the Feds at the Little Bohemia lodge, was filmed at the actual Little Bohemia lodge. The bullet holes from the real shoot out are still preserved in some of the walls. Northern Wisconsin was a big hangout for the mob. Lots of gangsters from Chicago would go up north to relax and get away. Some things never change.

Michael Mann rarely makes a bad movie. My all-time favorite movie is HEAT, also a Michael Mann movie. There are similarities between the two movies. Robert DeNiro in HEAT and Johnny Depp in PE both tell the customers in the bank to put their money away because they're there to steal the bank's money and not the customer's money.

Little Bohemia was one of a few places that they filmed at the real places. They even filmed in the same room Dillinger stayed in. The opening scene depicting his jalibreak was filmed at the real prison in Indiana. One of the real banks was used as well as the Biograph Theatre where Dillinger met his demise.

I've been reading up on this movie for over a year. I'm really pumped and hope it's as good as I believe it will be.

Yes, I saw that. There was an interview on TV this week with Michael Mann and Johnny Depp talking about the film. They showed the jail where Dillinger was actually held in Indiana. The building is now falling apart, but they fixed it up for filming. Apparently they filmed Depp at the exact location in the jail where the photographs of Dillinger were taken. Very cool.

Hey Steve,
My Grandparents had a lot on Indian Acres. We used to go there to go crabbing and swimming in the 70's. Do you know where I'm talking about?

In Cecil County, the east side of Chesapeake Bay. Back then, you brought your camper and trailer. Now, it looks like they paved the roads and built some pre-fab housing.
