Journey at Sioux Falls, SD

The only clip that surfaced so far of their Sioux Falls Arena gig on July 19th.

SEPARATE WAYS

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pxuD8Dd09kU

The Set List as posted by "lybeck" at Journey Forum:

Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)
Never Walk Away
Stone In Love
Ask The Lonely
Change For the Better
Keep on Runnin' (Deen Castronovo sings)
Lights
Open Arms
Wheel in the Sky
Chain Reaction
Wildest Dream
Don't Stop Believing
Any Way You Want It
Faithfully
Be Good to Yourself
Lovin' Touchin' Squeezin' (encore)

My wife and I saw Jonathan Cain and Arnel Pineda with some of their family members at the Hotel we all were staying at just an hour before the show. We didn't want to bother them so we just gave Arnel and his young son the up-nod and smile. Everyone looked happy and healthy.
The show was well worth the 4 hour drive down from Fargo, ND.

Ehh...having three songs a year removed from the album tour is pretty good, I think. Usually they've scrapped all new songs a year after an album was released.

3 in there, which for that size set is about the right ratio.

Seeing Lovin' Touchin' Squeezin' on the setlist makes my asshole bleed, esp as an Encore. I can't stand that song, along with Open Arms. I hope they atleast mix up the setlist a bit. It doesn't even have to be different songs, just different song order can do wonders. A couple more songs off of Revelation won't hurt also.

Well I would think that 5 or 6 at this stage in the game....and was Arrival ever released or did they forget about that one?

Good to see AATY removed. Now replace Open Arms with TDTWT and all will be good.

5 or 6 in a 90 minute set would be too much for the casual fan, I think. But you're definitely right about Arrival. Damn shame that album isn't more well-known. I'd kill to see Higher Place, To Be Alive Again and We Will Meet Again in concert.

I'd add Signs Of Life and Livin To Do to that list. Love Arrival.

Also, totally agree that LTS and Open Arms have to go. Open Arms, ok, it really can't go cause of the casual fan, but do you think the fans would be beating down the ticket kiosk for refunds if they took out LTS? I don't think so. DSB? Yeah, people would be mad. But to me, LTS is an acceptable AND necessary cut that should be made sooner rather than later.

I'm in 100% agreement on getting rid of LTS. I understand that it gives Neal and Jon an extended time to jam, but I cannot understand its placement as the only encore song for the last two tours. After two bands and 3.5 hours of music, Journey ends the night and leaves the crowd with slow, dragged out Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin'. If it has to be played, play it as the first encore song and then play something else after it.

Truthfully every song but L,T,S, Chain Reaction, Keep On Running and ATL are on Revelation.
How that be? :D

Was this a Journey headline show? About how long did it clock in at?

It seems like a rather short set list for Journey as a headliner, especially if they are helping him by tuning down. How long were the sets last summer? Remind me.

I think it depends on the venue and what acts they're with. Their first show was two hours here in the U.S with Arnel singing the whole set. I don't know on this one.

Cool Review from poster on Journey Music:

This was one of the best shows I've seen in a very long time. The concert started with a great band - Night Ranger - then Journey blew the doors off the arena! This show was not even close in comparison to their last show in Sioux Falls.

My wife & I hadn't seen or heard much about Arnel & we weren't sure what to expect when he literally bounded out onto the stage. Holy Smokes!!! Where in the hell did that voice come from - he is absolutely fantastic. On the way home, we both said it was completely mesmerizing. Out of this little body comes this voice with so much depth & range. Arnel - fantastic job, your voice and energy level are off the charts!

(on a side note: I haven't seen someone with that much energy bounding across the stage since the 80's with Donnie VanZant of 38 Special!)

When Journey hit the stage, they played from 1 song to another with almost no pause in-between. The stage, the sound, the show - all great.

To the band of Journey: Thank you, it was one of the best evenings I've had in a very long time

Maybe the band got confused and thought everyone was throwing away Disc 1 of Revelation instead of Disc 2.

I don't know why. They are probably too scared of scaring the casual fans away. They played 'Higher Place' in Osaka because Japan loves Journey and everything they play. They could play bingo up on stage and the crowd would cheer. Too bad the American audience wants the same ol' same ol'.

I blame the radio stations for only playing a handful of Journey songs now days.
