I never got to see the Directors cut. I had the shit set up to record, and something messed it up!

What was the difference between that and the regular version?

Darker toast and more, bigger fake tears.

I remember there was a little more Augeri backstory...not much tho. Maybe more early Santana history too?

More Augeri backstory; more on Perry axing Aynsley; Ross's bankruptcy; little extras about everything already on there.

I believe the regular (hour show) came out in April. Director's Cut added 30 minutes more and shown later in the year. As I heard it, the Journey saga was one of the most popular ever in the BTM series.

Would absolutely love to see all of the footage that did not make it into either cut of the show.

One thing I always wondered: were those tears from Cain really for real? It's pretty bad if they weren't.

Wonder if VH1 will do a Remastered and updated version for Journey. They have done remastered versions for Hall and Oates and Heart.

Which begs the question: how is it possible to put on an act like that and feel good about yourself afterwards? I think it's pretty low. And WHY?

I think they were real. Perhaps Jon was having a flashback concerning this kid or even another child he was close to adn it just him, especially if it wasn't something he hadn't thought about for a while.

Where were they?!?
Seriously, J~10 ...I haven't a clue, it has always seemed staged
and unreal, like very bad acting!!

Jon's crying sequence was in the Director's Cut (long version). I think we can all agree it looked awkward as hell, him breaking down like that right in the middle of the interview, but I think the emotion is genuine. Like Don said, one can still feel deep sadness, but tears don't necessarily come out.

Yeah, the scene was odd to say the least, but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. He literally watched a young kid die before his eyes, and knowing that their music was probably the last thin he heard has to be emotionally bewildering. That was sooo nice of them to that for that kid. Real tears or not, they let that kid die knowing his heroes cared enough about him to stop by and acknowledge him. And I think that's pretty fucking awesome.

I think they had short bits with Gregg and Steve Smith added, too.
They should have just taken Herbie's interview and used only that....bet the ratings would have doubled.

One would have to be inhuman not to be touched by the suffering and/or death of a child, and I feel
certain Jon was. Awkward is right, Annie ...I was moved much more by Neal's and Sp's recollection
of that day ...that felt real, to me!! But one never knows at what time emotions will take control!!
Good stuff, SJ ...good enough to even ignore the ...well I'm ignoring!! *gritting teeth*

True, and we all know keyboardists can be a little... sensitive.
