I think the arena holds around 12K. The stadium holds 90k though.

Having seen that at JFK stadium (as an opening act for the Stones in 81 and as the headliner in 83), I can tell you that yes, it is insane.

I'm going to be at MEN Arena in Manchester; capacity 23,000. That's a bunch of buns. Front row; can't wait.

Bon Jovi sold out 14 shows at London's O2 this past summer. There has to be some kind of 80s Nostalgia market there for that to happen. We're talking around 300,000 tickets sold over a fortnight.

I checked on Wembley and MEN a couple weeks ago (checking seating charts) and the only seats available at Wembley were the upper corners something like Row N (not sure) and MEN only had the upper upper tier left. What I'm not used to is the one price for all seats. I certainly wouldn't pay 49 pounds for those seats!!

Foreigner has a lot of fans in the UK. Azoff obviously knew better than to have Journey try to fill these places themselves. They might be called the Eclipse tour but it's being billed as a night of 80s rock because good promoters knows that nostalgia sells.

(Though, I still think they dicked up the U.S. tour package by going for softer instead of harder support acts)

There is a huge difference between Jovi and Journey. Jovi have always been very very popular in the UK, Journey have not. If it wasn't for the rebirth of DSB i tell you now that most every day music fan in the UK would not know of Journey. Sure they have a fanbase, but its not a big fan base. Jovi are a different entity altogether.

Most venues will downsize for certain acts and i am fairly sure a lot of them will have done that this time around.
Journey tried playing larger venues in the UK in 2007 and failed, big time. I was at one of the shows which held 12,000 and it was barley even half full, it was embarrassing.

The reasons why they will do slightly better this time is the DSB thing and that Foreigner are supporting. Foreigner are Known and fairly popular, more so than Journey, and Journey's management knew of this and moved smartly to get Foreiner on the bill. However, little do Journey's management realise that Foreigner are no slouches at the moment and Journey may well find it pretty hard following Foreigner. Having witnessed the current Foreigner and the current Journey i am in no doubt that Journey have their work cut out.

This image that Journey are popular in the UK is a myth and incorrect. Of course they are more known now due to DSB doing so well, but overall mr average music fan in the UK just doesn't care for them.

Because they know what they are doing. There is a reason that Living On A Prayer is in the Top Ten on the British Rock Charts. Bon Jovi interacts with their fans. They ask questions, they monitor the pulse of the crowd. They do the things that successful corporations do.
Just last summer, they streamed all of their DVDs through FaceBook. Things as simple as that work, believe it or not.

Just went over to the Journey site to see if they were using the new EPK (OK, I had to look it up Electronic Press Kit) Nope, so I decided to check on those tickets in the UK. Well, it looks like Wembley is SOLD OUT with only 14 not so great Premium tickets lift for between $300-$500. I can't believe someone would buy those tickets in the corners. Checking around, it looks like Glasgow is also SOLD OUT except some Premium tickets in like the 17th row. Rest are looking pretty full, except Dublin. I know GB it's all about Foreigner, but it is the Journey Tour. Anyway, looks like a great start for Europe!!

I think Birmingham is sort of a Sell Out since the only tickets that came up were those that were greyed out on the side of the stage. I was there (I think) in 2007 for Journey with JSS and it wasn't a big seller, not sure of the venue, but I keep thinking there was another big show in London on that same date. I don't know if it's the same venue, but I saw Def Leppard and White Snake at what I think is this venue although I think it was called something like the NIA Arena??
