...."After a dizzying 2011 schedule that included stops in Chile, England, Northern Ireland, Belgium and the Netherlands, Journey will embark on another ambitious world tour this year, hitting South America with Styx, Loverboy, Foreigner and Heart, and touring the U.S. with Loverboy"...

That's likely because there's are only a handful of Nashville artists with the range to sing Journey material.. Flatts is one of them...

I remember Martina McBride and Pat Benatar doing the Crossroads thing... and Martina had to work at hitting some of the notes Pat was killing... and Martin a can belt...

Journey doing country has to be one of the signs of the apocolypse. :D

Yeah, everything I have read its still in the works. I see they are going to be playing at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center in Nashville on Feb. 24th. My guess is that might be where they are taping the show with Rascal flatts.

February 24, 2012 - Nashville, TN - Jackson Hall, Tennessee Performing Arts Center
ONSALE 2/3

Could be the venue. I'm guessing the Rascal Flatts taping is on Saturday - the day after this "tune-up" show.

The Rascal frontman will prolly put Arnel to shame. He played with TOTO at some awards ceremony and hit those money notes with ease.

I've always wanted to hear Stone in Love done by a country act. I hope RF does it, it can easily be countrified in a way that doesn't shit on the original version.

I've long said that 'Turn Down the World Tonight' should be a country duet...'After All These Years' too. Both of these could be huge cross-over hits. Journey should call Lady Antebellum, or bring in a hot young country solo star. Rascal Flatts is great, but I think Journey would be better serverd tapping in to a few female voices.

later~

Loved by You from Arrival is also a natural country tune.

Did anyone hear Mark Chesnut's version of Aerosmith's Don't Want to Miss a Thing? I could hear Loved by You getting that kind of interpretation and working great.

I'm really looking forward to seeing this show if it doesn't get cancelled. I'm not a big county fan but I do like Rascal Flatts. Gary Levox is one of the best singers out there. People should get ready for a great show. Gary to take Journey somewhere, it will be very interesting to see. The dude has range out the ying yang too.

Being that I am not a country music fan at all and don't listen to country I certainly will not be listening to Journey do country music.

Anyone here believe Journey will showcase "Tantra" during the show?
Country tends to be more welcoming of, shall I say, "God" in music...... Think that'll play out well?

We all know Journey wants this song from their "great new album" to be out there and well-known and what better avenue to get there than a generally pro-religious audience in a TV Show.

Correct.

I got a tip that if this in fact goes down, Journey will play Life is a Highway, I Won't Let Go and Both Bands will do what Flatts does every show; a live Rock Medley, featuring Boston/kansas and this time Journey. I am telling you Journey fans, your band is going to be up for a huge test. rascal Flatts is one of the best bands in the world, especially live.

Life is a Highway
- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mvsmRuRp4cM

I Won't Let Go. This is as good as any love song Joourney has ever done. - Simply amazing live. Gives one goosebumps.-http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zus_R21nY5I

Rock Medely Live. Tell me this band can't bring it live? - This particular clip is a satellite feed for the CMA Awards Show, live from the Cotton Bowl...Foreplay/Longtime(Boston), Carry on My Wayward Son (Kansas) and Free Ride Edgar Winter Group, whatever the fuckin somg is called. There are other clips of RF playing this medley with a Journey song included in it....and they do them righteous justice. -http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XBD8fw95fUw

Ever hear Foreplay/Longtime by Boston done live? Me neither, until now. From beginning to end. Same set as the prior link, but this from a different show altogether, and goes from the very first note to the very last... the lead singer for Flatts, Gary Levox, plays a weird instrument to get some sounds from the Boston song. Anyone know what this weird sonofbitch is called?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X8iO6RW1 ... re=related

Rascal Flatts really isn't all country. They could be the very first country act to cross over the other way- from Country to Rock. Any serious takes or thoughts on their talents?

I can’t speak to how good RF’s backing musicians are but as for the guitarist and bass/piano player who make up 2/3 of the RF trio, they weren’t even allowed to play their instruments on their first album and for the guitarist barely at all on their second. They may be great live, unlike you(really??) I have never seen them. But it’s a stretch to think they could have gone from not being good enough to pay on their first recordings to being better than Schon and Cain. Lastly, Journey covering Boston and Kansas? No way.
