Anyone have any pre-sale info...particularly for 8/15 show?

Anyone know if they are playing a half step down this tour or not so I can decide if I'm buying tickets?

Oh for cripes sake, you think if Perry were still fronting this band, would he be singing these songs in their original key? I think NOT.
Arnel does an amazing job with these songs. I probably won't be attending a show this year because I've quite honestly become bored with the setlists.

I'm kinda bored with the setlists as well. I'll be doing one show for sure and maybe two but I highly doubt it.

Sure he would, but the sound would be top notch and he would make
sure the audience heard the band and got their money's worth.
That's what your question should be, Aaron, have the sound issues been corrected?!

I don't know how your show/s went last year, JJ, but the one I attended had pathetic sound.
The sound issues were a problem the entire tour and were still there near the end ...
meaning THE BAND did not care to correct the problem.
How would one know AP does an incredible job w/these songs when one cannot
make out a single word he sings ...and it has nothing to do w/enunciation.

PS~ It's much more acceptable, to me, for the original singer/writer-co/frontman
to adjust the songs.

Given how modern!SP likely sounds, I doubt that that would be for the best.

the biggest problem with these triple bills is the way it shrinks down everybody's set length. Then you're assured of the dirty dozen and very little else.
My favorite Journey tour in the last decade was Generations. Loved all the old stuff. Kevin Elson once told me there was an entire live video filmed on that tour and they were talking about having Augeri come in and remix his vocals for a release. I'm sure they'll never do it, but I'd love to have it.

If memory serves correctly they recorded an entire show in TX for a Generations DVD, I think maybe in Dallas? I believe there were some serious vocal issues with that performance, whether it was from obvious lip synching or just bad live vocals, I don't know, never saw it. But I do know that Steve's separation from the band, in a very legally binding sense, made certain that there would never be any release of that video.

Benatar is completely unnecessary for this tour.

I think that Journey will do 3 band bills from here on out though in order to preserve Arnel's voice.

I agree with your comment regarding the set lists, they've been lack luster.

If Perry was singing, I would not have an issue with running a half or a full step down. Steve was the original singer and wrote a good portion of the material. The part I don't understand is why people will accept running a half step down for a replacement singer? The songs lose a lot, in my opinion, when played a half step down. If you can't tell the difference that's fine, I can. I'm not paying serious money to see these guys to be irritated listening to the songs being played a half step down. I'll go see Hugo or Jeremey first.

So can anyone answer the question, are they running a half step down or not?

Interesting. The show in Indy was pretty decent from a sound standpoint. Night Ranger sounded the best, Journey was second but still decent, and Foreigner was not good coming in last. Arnel was not cutting through the mix but he was ok, you could hear him. Given Journey is the headliner and the tickets aren't cheap, we should expect better. Agree on your original singer comment, I can tolerate detuning for Perry. He was THE BEST ever to hold a mic. :)

Just like last year, I get all pumped up waiting to see the tour schedule...just to remember it is the same line up and same songs. Blah.

Last year I saw them once, but didn't decide to go until hour before show. I wish something would be done to get me fired up about seeing them again.

Like I texted you--nope! Sorry. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. I'm not shelling out good money to see this band ever again.

Not to mention, Blossom on September 22 is a HUGE crapshoot. It could be beyond shitty weather!

I was thinking that exact same thing. Stupid to schedule an outdoor show in Northeast Ohio that late into September.

I love the shows at Blossom, but I kind of wish that Journey would play at The Q again sometime soon.

Glad to hear that Aaron, where did this show fall in the tour?!? Foreigner was top notch, imo, should've
been headlining. Night Ranger was incredible, as usual, but just did not have enough stage time
to do much. Once they got the crowd moving, it was bye, bye ...I wanted to hear so much more
from SIC. If they had had Foreigner's slot, they would've been my fav. Not ONE original
member from Foreigner, but KH kicked my butt!!

It was the 8th show in on the last tour. NR was awesome and I agree fully on the more SIC comment. I'd give Foreigner and Journey a tie for third. Journey's sound was a little better, Kelly put on a better show. Both were down a half step so no need to discussion 2nd place. :) NR was in the original key sounded AWESOME. SIC is one of the best cd's I've bought in years. It is WAY better than that turd Eclipse. Every song on SIC kicks butt.

I enjoyed Ranger the most last year.

I don't have a musical ear, but I even "hear" the difference when Faithfully is said to have been lowered. If others "hear" that throughout the set I wouldn't blame them for not liking it or going.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Journey proponents deride the complaining about the 1/2 step downtuning like it's just hyper-critical listeners or musicians chiming in. The reality is that the nature of Journey music makes that downtuning much more noticeable than when someone like Def Leppard or Billy Joel downtunes. It sounds a lot worse in Journey's case. And people notice, even if they can't identify it as "downtuning." I took a couple non-musician, very casual Journey listeners last year and they noticed it, too.
