Wow, sounds like the Beatles. I liked it a lot.

That being said, do you think it will sell any?

I understand people being true to their roots and sticking with what they know, in regards to genre and such, but very lately I've been wondering what the purpose is in making records in a genre that just doesn't sell that much anymore. Robert Fleischman isn't well known at all. I know Journey, Van Halen and the like can eventually sell a million records releasing one today, but that's them. They're big named artists. If someone interested in producing music wants to make money, they're going to have to get into the musical climate of today and make music that young people like. We bought Boston albums when we were kids, and that's what was popular. Too many people our age have let their love of music fade and are too busy doing other things, like trying to pay the bills and raising their kids kids. Most people our age just don't follow it anymore, sadly.

I don't know if it will sell a lot, Rick, but I gotta give Robert props for just going with the flow and doing what he wants. Some of us may like it, some may not. Seems like a pretty grounded fella to me. He's also made some cool collages, so he's into art. He's shared a couple with me on facebook. He seems pretty happy and not too commercial.

Well, there is something to be said for playing your catalog to your fans. That's what most of them want to hear. If a band doesn't see a need to inject new music into that (like Poison, for example) and are having fun doing what they do, then more power to them.

But, to the original question of "why", it's like any other style of music. Jazz and Bluegrass typically don't sell tons of units, but the musicians who make it love it. There are still musicians playing these styles and releasing albums knowing they're not going to get rich. It's the same for Fleischman...he's doing what he loves. He could be going out there re-treading some Journey and/or Vinnie Vincent material with his band and playing up his legacy to attempt to eek out a living...he's not doing that.

As to his songs, it all comes from The Beatles, but I also hear a bit of The Verve and/or Oasis in that first song.

Spot on! I have ordered this album. At this point in his life, I see no real reference to his time in Journey in his music. The guy is an artist and I'm glad he didn't go on to do something totally boring. BTW, I only posted this here because he has Journey roots.

Can anyone else hear ELO in the music? Not the vocals, but just the music.
