This is interesting. Whatever order you want, those are the top five albums! And number six on my list might be Look Into The Future or Arrival or Eclipse, but certainly NOT Raised on Radio.

I think ROR is a great record. Tons of great songs... amazing vocal performances and a nice shift after Frontiers. Once You Love Somebody is a very under-rated song... The Girl Can't Help It is awesome... Suzanne is killer... Happy To Give is hauntingly beautiful and epic... I'll Be Alright Without You is super soulful... Be Good To Yourself is classic Journey anthem goodness... The Eyes of Woman has great melodies and intriguing sonics... Why Can't This Night Go On Forever is pure power ballad goodness and nod of appreciation to all of us... Even the songs I didn't list are very enjoyable. Yes I know its a bit more "Pop" than other records but the songs were very well crafted and very well arranged and performed. Again ROR is a seriously GREAT record. Totally disagree with the dissing of this record....

I love the first 3 Journey albums which were Progressive Rock as much as I do the AOR Journey albums. But I don't want to rank them with the AOR albums because they're so different.
The same goes for Dream After Dream, it's too different than the AOR albums to compare it with them.

I totally agree with you that saying that Raised On Radio is viewed as being Journey's second best album is totally false!

Raised on Radio was probably Perry's best solo album.

But yeah, it was a solid release that married the music with the appropriate time...mid to late 80's. As you said, I think it was some of Perry's best vocal performances. Escape will always be my favorite album, but ROR is probably top 5.

Is this the article that included info up to 2006? I was really appreciating the attention to the Augeri era until I realized it was because there was no more.

Raised on Radio is pretty good until you get to The Eyes of a Woman which sounds like Tears for Fears or something. I know that is one of the few songs Steve Smith is on drums, but maybe they could have salvaged the album if they had a rocker there instead. A big rocker right there would have set up the ballad to close the album perfectly. But Perry didn't want to share any of the glory with Neal, so Raised on Radio is what it is. Not really a Journey album at all.
