Band is only playing 5 tunes. I'll try to tune in. Alot of these high profile gigs (Lolla, iHeart) were due, in part, to QPrime. Not sure what the future holds.

Yup. I think its been a perfect year with the high profile gigs combined with spot dates for evening with shows. Under the Covid scenario we're in - it couldn't have been better.

On a cursory glance I don't see it listed, when is Journey playing?

Has it been confirmed that Q Prime is no longer managing the band?

No. But if management suddenly deletes all traces of you from their website, it can't be a good thing.

Just got done watching the Cheap Trick set, they played "5" songs. The usual "I Want You To Want Me", "Dream Police" and "Surrender" but the surprise was the title track from their new album "In Another World" merging into "Good Night".
Imagine that, new music in a 5 song set!

Derlatka's social media has a picture of tonight's setlist lying on the keyboard. No surprises at all:
SW
AWYWI
Lights
WITS
DSB
Sooo fucking boring
Additionally, based on photos, Deen is playing a different kit. Not sure if Narada is even there tonight.

They should have done the following:
SW
TWWUTB
CFTB
DSB
AWYWI

Only Deen on drums.
They sounded great. Arnel was excellent.
Crowd was into it. The confetti cannons were back.
Played “my hometown” again during Wheel in the Sky,
Should have played “way we used to be”.

Band was fine. Arnel definitely had some struggles. On some big power notes, he was holding back and just trying to go with light head voice - not good. AWYWI was the worst - between this and CNN, really they should just stop performing that one on live television.

My feed dropped during AWYWI so I didn't notice that. But totally wasted opportunity.

Pretty funny how both of Cain's hands are visible at the start of Separate Ways (0:13) and he's not playing anything. Definitely a track - or Jason is playing.

Those were Jason’s hands, they were black sleeves. Jon is in all white.

Arnel is obviously having issues with his voice. It seems to be where his chest voice switches to his head voice, he struggles. Sometimes he completely blows the phrase trying to hit a note out of chest voice but his throat doesn't switch correctly to head voice, sometimes he keeps it in chest voice and therefore doesn't come close to hitting the note. Ironically, it seems to me that it is his high chest voice where he struggles the most. So, when he goes for a full phrase in his head voice, he sounds OK...which is all higher. The big issue is that is not how Journey songs are written. Perry could switch between chest voice, head voice, and even falsetto, and you really couldn't tell the difference so the songs almost constantly switch from phrase to phrase. Also, there are times where it seems his mic volume is being turned down and you can hardly hear his lead vocal...annoying.
This is much better than CNN....but still...

NOT tuned down. Geez, why???? Internationally viewed spot, so maybe HELP your not-25-year-old singer to shine...??? For some reason, I'm thinking this was a Neal decision, but who knows? I agree that Change for the Better woulda been great. LOVE that song and am tired of hearing the SOS live.
I hear Arnel doing what he does with live Journey songs- he's dropping the consonants. I don't understand that other than- consonants stop the breath and cause u to refocus your voice a bit after each one. When he sings other people's stuff, he doesn't do that and is usually amazing. When he sings Journey stuff, he drops the consonants and so things sound very... slurred together. If u r in the live audience, I think you'll miss it, but on video, it's really apparent. He does it a lot and videos really highlight it. Love him- classy dude, amazing voice, but I do wonder why this happens with Journey performances. Maybe he was nervous playing in front of Uncle Jesse's house

. Maybe because he's 54 and still singing the hardest catalog ever. I don't envy him- world's toughest shoes to fill and the easiest to slag if not perfect. I still think that he is the best choice. I think he's doing as well as he can. Too bad the band doesn't just settle on the lower keys and make it a bit easier for him. I like how they extended Wheel In the Sky. AP sounds really winded. I understand 'fronting' the band and 'hyping' the crowd- but these songs are high and so maybe a bit less hyping and more breath management. That being said- this guy is in such great shape. I remember being pissed at Barruck (sp) for hassling AP after the Chile gig (the first gig) for running around- but there, he absolutely managed it and killed there. Here, he's winded and slurring stuff together. Back off on that stuff and save it for this ridiculously high catalog sung in the original key in front of a world wide audience. I still love the guy and wish nothing but the best for him. He's earned any respect that he gets simply for putting the work in. I'd love to be able to do what he does as well as he does it.

I am not sure "tuning down" would help him much. When I listen to this, he's all over the place. At times he tries to go for a note and it comes out complete shit and so he forces it into his head voice and somehow finishes it. Most times, he has zero issues with high notes in head voice. His chest voice is ragged...it reminds me of Perry during the Bill Graham tribute . So, tuning down would move MORE vocals out of his head voice and into his chest voice where his voice sounds very rough...like on CNN.

He's done this from the beginning. He sorta just mumbles and you can't even understand him. I don't know if it is his accent, or what...but it is very annoying.

I'm not a musician, but the first thing I said when I watched it live was "this doesn't sound turned down." So I'm glad to know I'm not crazy.
Absolutely bewildering decision not to do that. Detuning seems to help AP tremendously; as has been said repeatedly, he's a 54 year old tenor singing a catalog built around a countertenor between the ages of 27-37.
Still, the band looked great and AP sounded very good on Lights and WITS. The rest were mediocre, which is a shame because this is televised. Management needs to urge these fellas to make smarter performative decisions to help their frontman out.

Wouldn’t a down tuning, in conjunction with a vocal coach to train and to smooth out the consonants be beneficial at this point? The guy is singing one of the HARDEST catalogs in music. I was here when (on the forum) he was first discovered, but it is becoming painfully obvious that the job is taking a toll. I respect the heck out of him, but the strain has to be incredible.

I generally can't tell. I don't have an ear for music. I can tell when Faithfully sounds lower/deeper and I could tell that Arnel was really rough on CNN. Most of the stuff you guys talk about is like a foreign language to me.
On Saturday night I thought Arnel was an excellent frontman. I think Journey came across really well.

They played in the original key for this show...I don't freakin get it, as the last several shows they tuned down a half step. It doesn't make sense. If Arnel is going to last another tour they need to drop back down at least a half step or he's gonna be toast.
