FREEDOM songs you want to hear on tour

Even though Journey has touring plans for the next couple years, what song(s) do you want to hear from FREEDOM whether performed already or not? Personally, would love to hear "Don't Go".

Frankly, they should move on and write some new songs. Write five or six songs, record a few live concerts that include the new songs, release a live album of the best show...along with one studio song for a new single which they perform on the rest of the tour.

But, it will never happen because their management sucks right now and they feel like a completely fractured band. That would be a good album title though, "Fractured".

I suppose that it's debatable as to who was doing a better job managing Journey between QPrime then and Schon now? But Schon is doing a way better job than Azoff did. Azoff was holding Journey back big time.

They haven't had a successful 12-16 month period like this since 2008 and before that since 2001. I think there is a difference between too much drama and bad management?

- Together we Run should open up every show in 2023.
- All day and all night should be the first encore every night in 2023.
- Sneak one more in the middle of the show.
- I'd also release one of the ballads - in some fashion - around Vday and just see what happens. If nothing (and thats likely) you still didn't lose anything.

3 new songs is reasonable.

And then Monker is right, start writing new material and be ready to play a song from it by the end of the tour. Release the album in 2024.

I definitely agree on the write, record and release new songs by 2024 thing!!! Eleven years between new albums was ridiculous.

Sorry, but the 'new' "Beautiful as you are" video has a total of 39,000 views on YouTube...horrible. Nobody gives a shit about Freedom. It had it's time and is the least successful Journey album ever released. It is an embarrassment that should be put in the past. Releasing 'new' songs from it is a waste of time. Invest it into something new.

If they do not have any NEW songs, then it should be a GH+5relics for the anniversary next year.

Freedom is the greatest Journey album ever. They can literally do any of the songs. They are all awesome.

If Escape or Frontiers came out brand new today, it wouldn't do any sales. The music industry is much different now.
Imagine Escape or Frontiers with five extra songs on it, then you would have Freedom!

Even though the post is dead, I wanted to add Life Rolls On too.

Context is everything. If you took the Journey that existed in 1981 and Herbie and had them release Escape on Sony today, I have absolutely NO DOUBT that it would be a hit.

If you took the band as it exists today, with Neal managing, and had them release Freedom back in 1981, I have no doubt that it would be no more of a hit then compared to what it is today. In fact, I think Journey would have ended because of replacing the entire band, and firing Herbie...and the complete incompetence of Neal trying to lead things.

Now having Def Leppard's manager could possibly make JRNY release new material down the road.
Def's album output has been fairly active.

Here's my question...

Neal and Deen hit the studio for "new" JTT material. There were photos of the sessions. What happened to any of that?

Both Neal and Jon said many Freedom tracks didn't make the cut. They allegedly had around 30 total. Will any of these tracks see the light of day?

I like the album, but largely agree with this. The rollout was terrible. W/out proper real management, what did they expect?
Cain said that with Red 13 "we got our asses handed to us" - and that was an independent album WITH proper management.
Of course Freedom was doomed. The choice of singles ("Let It Rain") didn't help matters AT ALL.

Once Randy and Narada bailed, my interest in hearing any of this live also diminished greatly.

Let's say Freedom with Steve Perry in 1981.... would that be a hit? And then Escape with Arnel in 2022.... would that be a hit?

I didn't realize the guy they hired also manages Def Leppard. Fuck yes. Def Leppard's music and social media game is so far ahead of Journey's it's embarrassing. DL does tour vlogs, contests, regular shoutouts and updates from the band, behind the scenes vids and commentaries, and regular, professional, sleek engagement.

Neal, if you're reading this, stop treating Journey as your personal shitposting platform. Turn over the keys to Mike Kobayashi and outside of writing, performing, and noodling on the guitar on your personal IG, fuck off.

Even if he read this, he would immediately accuse you of working for "former management", or Cain, or Live Nation. His social media outbursts have exposed him as a really troubled dysfunctional guy. To quote Cain's legal response, "I feel sorry for Neal...."

They need to open shows with “Together we run” this year. Every show.
