Nowhere. But where did I say violence was
required in defining it? I didn't. I was merely citing some of the more extreme cases as examples of the kind of hatred we're talking about here? On a non-voilent but equally bigoted level is the story that sparked this thread. Hatred and intolerance being acted upon.
Where have people been assualted... or to use the non-violent example, where have peoples' children be kicked out of school
just because their parents believe homosexuality is a sin? Me disagreeing with a person's opinion, such as Dave's, is not bigotry, it's just Dave and I disagreeing about something. Now, if I hurled names at him left right and center, or acted in a hateful way toward him, that would be a different matter.
My point was, there is constantly
action taken against gays - laws passed to prevent them from having things or doing things - kids being taken out of school, kids being excluded from proms (there was yet another story on that a day or two ago...), and of course the more extreme stories. Taking action, or supporting such action, is bigotry. It's the same as making blacks ride at the back of the bus or use their own drinking fountain... "you are a lesser group a people and we don't like you so we aren't going to allow you to...."
Telling someone you disagree with them or you don't like what they said about it or how they feel about it is not bigotry.
