I'm going to remember that quote when San Fran is still sitting at five titles, none of them with Kaepernick, in five years.

He's a flash in the pan. The league always takes a year or two to adjust to new, mobile QB's, but it always does.

QBR is nice, but I'm tired of hearing about it, just like I'm tired of hearing about PER in hoops. Brady's slower than ever, his accuracy is not quite there, he doeant throw deep ever, he has less zip on his ball, and he hasn't performed at the level he once did. But more importantly, he is strangely aloof these days. I detet some burnout. He wasn't leading the team on the field or on the sidelines. I didn't see him encouraging teammates, getting fired up, yelling at teammates, chiding himself for mistakes, or otherwise showing signs of intensity or competitiveness. I'm not saying he's no good any more, but he's not what he was. These days, I find he acts too much like his coach... Aloof .m

And it doesn't help that BB and the krafts continue putting garbage around him. It's an absolute crime they have a bunch of faceless guys out there, especially when you consider they have not even tried to gie Brady a legitimate stud wr who can stretch the field since shipping moss out. Having clowns like danny wood head running around out there is just flat out goofy

Opinion only, and I think Kap is going to be a good QB.

Too many veterans on the Ravens with Reed, Lewis and Suggs. They want this badly.

Anything can happen but I think it is their time.

Kap is the future for S.F. but I don't think it is now.

You do realize this team has won more games in the past six seasons than any other team in NFL history over a similar strech, don't you? How are Hernandez, Gronkowski, Welker, and Lloyd clowns? And I can show you plenty of footage from this season where Brady is as fired up as he ever has been. This team outscored the rest of the league by 5 points per game, and was 9th in defensive scoring.

They had a shitty game at the worst possible time. The Ravens were the better team yesterday. Don't forget, if Tucker misses that FG against the Pats, we're not having this conversation, because Baltimore wouldn't have even made the playoffs. The Pats haven't lost a regular season game by more than a touchdown in seven years. Every other team in the league has lost at least NINE games by 8 or more points over the same stretch. I'm pretty sure Cleveland lost EVERY game this year by at least 10 points.

It's gonna be a defensive battle... IMHO most likely the D will score the winning points.

If Welker doesn't make the worst drop of his career on that third down throw in the third quarter, the Pats would have run away with the game. It's a fickle thing, the NFL...unlike your standard best-of-seven sports, it's one-and-done in football.

I think the Pats need to let Welker go, incidentally. He's going to be 33, and he has two drops that have, arguably, cost the Pats a Super Bowl win and an AFC Championship.

Matt...

I respect you and you're a good dude. That said, calling Brady "a shell of his former self" is beyond laughable. Listen, Brady played fucking AWFUL against Baltimore. Probably the worst performance of his career (and by the way, he NEVER, EVER plays well against that team). Having said that, to say this guy is now washed up is beyond ridiculous. His career completion percentage (accuracy) is 64%. His completion percentage this season was 63%. He has only thrown for more yards in two other seasons in his career. He also had his forth best season for TD passes. Hardly a guy who can't play any longer. Ask Houston how they felt about Brady when he lit them up the week before. As for his speed (or lack thereof), I'm not sure what your point is. The dude has always been slow as shit and he isn't any slower now than he was 10 years ago. He's about as uncoordinated as it gets! As for the "garbage" around him...you do realize that Brady won his Super Bowls with guys like David Patten, David Givens, and Jabbar Gafney playing Wide Receiver, right? If anything, you can make the argument that Wes Welker (who was not on any of the championship teams) is the only offensive player that Brady has ever played with who will probably land in the Hall of Fame. In spite of Gronkowski's fragility over the past two seasons, tell me a Tight End who is better than he is?

The bottom line for Brady is that the expectations for the guy are completely unrealistic. People in New England think he had a bad season because he had 8 picks this season. The reality may be that the guy may never win another Super Bowl. He's 35 and not getting any younger. As a fan of this team since I was a 5 year old boy (I'm now 42), I'm pretty okay with what Brady has accomplished. He took one of the most irrelevant franchises in the NFL into a team that everyone hates. There is absolutely NOTHING better than everyone despising your team. You haven't arrived until everyone hates you. Nobody hates the Arizona Cardinals, because they're not remotely relevant. I've enjoyed the ride and will continue to enjoy what remains of it. I've been hearing for three years that Brady and the Patriots are done and they somehow got to The Super Bowl with the worst defense in the history of the NFL last season. Much to the chagrin of NFL fans outside of New England, I suspect that the reports of the demise of Brady and the Patriots are a bit premature.

I think when it comes down to the Super Bowl, all bets are off. Ravens and the 9'ers are two teams that won't be defined by their playoff run, but by their performance in the Super Bowl. Yeah the Ravens are wise with guys like Lewis, Reed and Boldin, but San Fran has the same tradeoff with guys like Gore, Davis, Willis & Moss. All league veterans. Baltimore showed that they can go down the field at such a high completion percentage, that Flacco doesn't have to play perfect football. Guys like Bernard Peirce is even taking pressure off of guys like Ray Rice and it opens the entire Ravens offense.

San Francisco is just playing balls out and is operating at their own speed. New England was fast tempo. San Fran is blazing with their on field talent and Kap is just as impressive in throwing the ball accurately than he is with his legs. The matchup is Kap and Ed Reed IMHO. Lewis will be there, but he won't be much of a pest. I'm eager to see if Kap can manipulate the Ravens defense and keep it away from Ed Reed when they need the air.

Watching it again, I thought defensively the Pats had decent coverage, especially in the first half.

I agree Ed. The Patriots had zero problems covering anyone until Aquib Talib left the game with a lame hamstring. Unfortunately (for them), they had to replace him with Kyle Arrington...who can't cover ANYONE!

That's the way I felt in Dallas when the Steelers had to resort to Josh Victorian ( :? ) covering Dez Bryant in their secondary and continuing needing to play him against guys like A.J Greene ( :o ) I hated this season. No matter who wins it in 2 weeks, I can't wait to get out of this hell hole in 2012. I don't know how teams like the Browns, Lions or Chiefs fans can handle such mediocrity year in and year out, lol.

As a Bengals fan I would guess the answer is beer.

That's kind of the way I'm coping anymore also. Oh hell, I would drink beer if they were winning too. :D

That's the great thing about beer, you can either celebrate with it or drown your sorrows, it's a multi-tasking food.

According to this post, beer = food. I really like that, because there are lots of nights that I have drank my dinner.

Guinness does a body good and Deano knew that, When he did buy rounds, I made sure he got me a pint instead of that Miller lite piss water he was drinking.

This is when I need Dan or Mark (Since 78 ) to help put you redneck ale drinkers in your place. Those guys know how to appreciate a good beer (or Irish carbomb).

So apparently, two of NFL greats, Hall of Fame careers, one being marked as the BEST EVER to play the game, are coming out and saying Bill Callahan literally THREW the Super Bowl (Raiders VS Buccaneers) to the Bucs in 2002 (according to Jim Brown & Jerry Rice.) Not sure what to think of this....

The Raiders were the number one passing team in the NFL in 2002. Tampa Bay was the number one ranked defense in the league.
Oakland was not going to fool anybody trying to run the ball on them. These guys are idiots.

Gannon's five interceptions, three of them pick sixes are why the Raiders lost.

Ding, Ding, Ding. We have a winner. Jerry Rice and Tim Brown sound like jackasses. If they actually believed what they're spouting off about now, they look pretty ridiculous saying nothing about it for more than ten freakin' years!

That's what I'm saying. I have no idea how to feel about what guys like Rice, who is a football God, coming out and saying this stuff. Rich Gannon once set the passing completions record for straight passes completed in a game when he went like, 22/22 at one point (I think against Pittsburgh.) The Raiders that season were known as a pass first team that saw Rich Gannon pick secondaries apart, owning one of the best passing offense's in the league. The entire thing doesn't make sense from an offensive standpoint. I think the gripe is more about putting in a hard week of work into practice, only for it to change at the last second ordeal.
