I wonder if the place might turn out to be Durty Nellies in Palatine IL. I saw Steve Lukather there last year, and it was a pretty nice place, probably same size as Joe's on Weed St.

I was there 2 weeks ago to see 7th Heaven...way too small.

That was one of my two thoughts, actually. The other place I was thinking was Barleycorn. I think it's bigger than Durty Nellie's. Although Nellie's has that whole floor, plus that big area upstairs, that's why I thought of it. Someone will need to show me where the ladies room is though. I don't wish to make THAT error again.

As far as size - I'm only looking at 1000 tickets this time folks....slightly higher price + VIP option, but strictly limited tickets. No 2500 seater for me this time, although if the line up comes together I might regret that

John Barleycorn in Schaumburg can top 1000. 7th Heaven draws 900-1000 there just on their own. No joke. The week of Thanksgiving last year, they hit about 950 (i'm lowballing to account for people who were "On the list" - the final count was a hair under 1000 I believe. 989 or something.)

If they can pay Frontiers and only collect $17 at the door for a few hundred people (I'm guessing there was 300) then why can't you charge $60, give them $15 and clear $45 per ticket? That's $45,000 if you sell 1,000 tickets and I think you would. Add to that the fact that they do not have to pay the acts (unles they want to!!! ) and I don't see why it can't be HOB. It's got the name, it's a beautiful venue, perfect location and worth travelling to. Why not there, dude? And having at the HOB would certainly garner you a radio station to promote the show!

But that's the tough part, we have no way of proving to them that we're a bunch of fucking drinking fools. Andrew could put Johnny And The Leisure Suits on the bill and get The Loop to promote the show!

Andrew, I have a deal to offer: You make this ANY weekend besides that May 1 weekend and I will pledge at least $500 in bar sales for MYSELF (and I tend to buy others drinks too) over the course of the weekend... make sure you work that out ahead of time so you get a cut

Besides, people that travel want to be near downtown and that place is in a tremendously cool location near everything. I say do it. You won't be sorry. 1000 people and $12 profit. That was the problem in South Bend. Looks like the venue is coming together and won't be downtown, but will be close to some hotels and restaurants and attractions. And the same distance from the airport...

Agree, venue choice is very important...but it is the bands/lineup that will get 1000 people.

And if Andrew could save $20k-25k of "additional expenses", I say do it.
