you know what Noble? I think the Democrat party is getting that accomplished just fine without the Republican partys help. And Im sure most Americans will be smart enough to realize that this November and then again in 2012.

An environmental crisis brought about through the perfect storm of deregulation, oil dependence, and cozy corporate gladhanding will NOT benefit the GOP. This spill continues to illustrate the failure of conservative ideals and what happens when they come home to roost – just like the Wall Street crash. Even when Obama fucks up, you lose. You guys can hook your thumbs under you novelty suspenders and wax populist about defending the little guy all you want. Come election time, perception is what counts. Everybody and their second cousin knows that of the two corrupt parties, only the Dems provide a slim chance of a clean energy moonshot. You seriously think you can re-define the GOP as the party of clean energy from now untill November, (even as global warming/cap n' trade believers are purged from your ranks)? Good luck.

Palin is such a funny broad.

Seriously - she knows damned well that punitive measures against BP won't include "higher gas taxes". The GOP wore that one out years ago.

The collusory relationship between Big Oil and Republicans could not have been made any more clear than during the waning days of the (second) failed Dubbya Administration - with no reason whatsoever, gas prices shot up almost 50% right around election time.

You know, of course, what will prevent BP from paying the cleanup costs through price increases at the pump, right? It's called REGULATION. If Bush hadn't made deregulating the oil industry a tatamount issue during his totalitarian reign, we wouldn't be in this mess, because there would have been fucking oversight. Ridiculous.

Good on ya' 7 !! Absolutely the right way to deal with it.

I've been trying to find the reports of one of the best independant economist the oil companies/governments use,, Phillip Verlager. When he predicted $80 oil in like 2005-7 everyone went nuts. His complex graphs were sometimes hard to understand. but what he came up with is the international demand was pretty much what fueled the big run-up. If I can find a link to his old reports I'll PM them to you.

Whatever they can do to clean up the spill they need to get to it. I could care less about the usual its the Dems fault vs its the Reps fault. Pointing blame doesn't clean up the spill or stop the gushing. All sides need to get their heads out of their politcal butts and just work together to get this fixed.

By the way.........hay soaks up oil completely. Sometimes simple ideas can be the best ones. Hay can be spread on the oil, then scooped out of the water. That is just one solution. Lets listen to peoples ideas and try a few. There is an enzyme that eats oil and the refuse is dirt. Lots of ideas to work with. :D

I would certainly never change a subject. I love debating, especially when its pointing out how I feel about the democrap party. My thing is I get bored with it fast and would just prefer to go grab some hot ass blonde, build a bonfire in the woods and lay back in my truck drinking Mothers Finest.

Actually, I hadn't given any thought to it until now, but I wonder how Sarah Palin would've handled this situation. She certainly does seem to have experience working with the oil companies. I can't see BO asking for her help, but I would like to see her put her money where her mouth is. It would be a huge indicator of her ability to handle crises of this magnitude if she is considering a run for the Oval Office.

If you want to trash her just for the tickle up your leg, save it. We've all heard it before. It's time to put aside the BS partisan crap and get to work fixing this thing. "Ass-kicking" isn't the order of the day right now, solutions are.

But isn't it amazing how they so quickly started calling it Obama's Economy and Obama's bailout.

When Bush started the bailouts they thought it was the only solution to keep Wall Street from going under. When Obama did basically the same thing it was socialism?

Sad part is, most of the voters in this country don't really know a damned thing except the talking points they hear from the "party they always vote for".

Too few really know who or what they're voting for other than their favorite talking point or their preconceived ideas based on partisan propaganda from the four headed LimbaughBeckHannityPalin monster. [/i]

I love the Governor of Louisiana ...

http://click.bsftransmit1.com/ViewInBro ... yOhiLWkMXo

Dear Friends -

Yesterday, I joined our Super Bowl Champion New Orleans Saints at the Fort Jackson Wildlife Recovery Center in Buras to rally support for coastal Louisiana. We were originally scheduled to host the Saints in Baton Rouge to celebrate their Super Bowl win, but we talked with the team and asked if they would join us in Plaquemines Parish to see the impact of the oil spill on our wildlife and fishermen and also help lift the spirits of the people of coastal Louisiana. The team graciously agreed and the entire Saints organization showed up in Buras yesterday to tell the people of Louisiana that we will overcome the odds and win this war with the oil spill.

The Saints had an opportunity to view many of the oiled birds that have been rescued as a result of the BP oil spill. We also visited with the residents and fishermen who are impacted by this spill and as the New Orleans Times-Picayune reported, I told them that “this is a war to protect our way of life in Louisiana. And just like the New Orleans Saints overcame the odds, Louisiana is going to win this battle to save our coast.”

Indeed, the Saints are a living testament to why Louisianians believe in comebacks and know that victory can be born out of perseverance. After 43 long seasons, the Saints beat the odds and with the strong support of the Who Dat Nation, they won their first ever Super Bowl. These Super Bowl Champions are heroes forever, but today, we have new heroes along our coast fighting the oil spill. Our coastal parish presidents, fishermen, National Guardsmen – these are the heroes in this oil spill disaster response. Like the Who Dat Nation supported the Saints last season, folks are lining up behind the people of coastal Louisiana to protect their way of life. While we face incredible challenges from this oil spill, we will dig down deep yet again and persevere to win this war.

Earlier in the week, Plaquemines Parish President Billy Nungesser, Grand Isle Mayor David Carmardelle and I took BP Managing Director Bob Dudley out on the coast to see firsthand the impact of the oil spill. We’re glad that Mr. Dudley came with us because it was important for him to see the devastation up close in order to understand the impact of the spill on our state and our people. After the tour, we talked with Mr. Dudley about the importance of fully funding the six approved segments of our sand-berm plan and he agreed that BP pay the full estimated $360 million cost. Mr. Dudley announced that BP was immediately wiring $60 million into an escrow account set up by the state and he also committed to paying the balance of the $360 million estimated total. Indeed, the Times-Picayune reported that BP will “fund the project through to its completion.” We will also continue to push for the approval and funding of the entire 24 segment sand-berm plan.

We did not simply wait for BP to send the funds though to get moving on this project. Our state coastal protection agency already started to work closely with Shaw and Bean Dredging to get to work on the six approved segments of our sand-berm plan to fight the oil miles off our coast rather than in our fragile wetlands.

This week I also viewed clean-up operations conducted by the Louisiana National Guard. The National Guard has placed oil suction equipment on barges that can transport vacuum trucks into marsh areas to clean up the oil. Of course we also continue to move forward on many other state projects to contain the oil, including Tiger Dams, landbridges, sand fill-ins, Hesco baskets, protecting marshes, East Grand Terre dredging and freshwater diversion.

BP’s decision to finally fund the sand-berm project is a good step, but we must continue to be aggressive in our efforts to contain the oil and there’s no question that we will continue to hold BP and the Coast Guard accountable. For Louisiana this is a marathon and a tough fight, but like the Saints, we will step up and win this war just as we have always done.

Sincerely,
Governor Bobby Jindal

Some interesting news on CNN today regarding the decisions 24 hours before the rig blew up. Basically BP was like a month behind schedule on this well, so they ignored all safety issues brought to them from the drill contractor. There was even an argument on the platform for all to see when they decided to ingore the pressure data and try to speed things up by even adding to the mess by substituting sea water for mud when trying to equalize the well head during drilling.

This disaster will give a whole new meaning to "fish oil".

Oh really now? I too can see November and it sure doesn't look half as bleak as it did 3 months ago. In California, your party is going to throw millions towards the US Senate seats and guess what, you aren't going to win. Also, good luck with Meg Whitman, millionaire 80 times over defeating Jerry Brown for Governor...ever heard of Wall Street vs Main Street?

Look at Arkansas. Blanche Lincoln, whom all the GOPers hate, won. She now gets pitted against Bozeman, and by the numbers of voters yesterday, there were so many Democrats out there, that they should be able to fend off the Bozeman challenge. Loss number two. Where is your next play?

Decreased yes, but not by enough to grant you fucking turds an ounce of power. By 2012, the economy will be rosy, Obama will be reelected and the Dems will win back what they lost this time out, which is about normal for the party in power.

Liket it or not, Its an interconected independent World. Real leadership would be to hold BP morally accountable for the mess it has created in the Gulf without publically lambasting it so much that the share price crashes sixteen percent, and BP which employs many thousands of people in the US and has many American investors suffers.
