It started the Journey forum members were split apart, and it's been downhill ever since. I don't think it will recover. People liked being all together on the Journey forum for some reason. But Neal didn't want people speaking freely about Journey without him controlling what was being said, and MR was the largest Journey forum before the split. Apparently keeping Neal happy is more of a priority than having a kickass Journey forum.

I won't presume to speak for Drew absolutely, but I think keeping Neal happy is relatively low on his list of priorities.

I don't care about the forums being split. I've liked it better that way actually. I've been around less for other reasons. More of a "be extremely careful who you trust and what epic lies you buy into" thing. You know - the 'usual'...

True, and I think he thought, b/c of all the hoopla back then, that Perry's release was a'coming, and there the forum was all nice and ready. But instead, crickets, crickets, crickets from Perry, and then the forum kinda died.

No no, that was all, just a general comment about why I have pulled back some.
We all know what goes on with the internet and anonymity and dishonesty....
And that idea has been bothering me lately.... not necessarily due to MR, but the internet in general, you know?

Let's face it, a lot of the forum traffic came from all the gay friga jokes, neal-bashing, and arnel vs. perry arguments - in addition to the drama of trying to make the journey forum be the general forum also. I see the reasoning, but for some reason it ended up like a church split. But I'm sure that Andrew is not losing sleep over the reduced drama load.

This guy was obviously dreaming:

wikipedia.com wrote:The 'Sessions' section in Mix Magazine's January 2009 issue quotes session musician Russ Miller as stating "Right now I'm working on Steve Perry's album."

In an interview the CBC Radio program Q (Canada), it is stated that Steve Perry is currently working on a solo album in Los Angeles.

Here's the next line of the Wiki article:

wikipedia.com wrote:On an interview with UK's "Planet Rock" radio station on February 3, 2010, Steve stated that although he is not currently recording in a studio, he has been writing new material for his own personal use, and that he misses the thrill of performing live.[16] Steve also stated in a recent interview with "West Sound" that he would soon be recording some new material.

That makes absolutely no sense at all. How does Neal or Journey control the MR forums? If this were journeymusic.com, I would agree, but not here.

I think it's obvious that Andrew split the forums because so much off topic BS was posted in the Journey forum. Why even call it a "Journey" forum when Journey is hardly ever discussed?

The MR Journey forum comes up first when you type in "Journey forum" on Google. Neal and the boys obviously knew how much traffic was coming to it, and they did not like the fact that they couldn't control what was being said about them. I don't know if they ever contacted Andrew directly about it, but I'm sure they weren't too happy about it.

Whenever you split up a large forum, you will lose people. Something similar happened at Harmony Central, a very large musicians forum with over 200,000 members. They launched a new 2.0 version of the forum that was much different in nature, and everyone bailed. They even aborted the changeover after two weeks, but it was too late. I would guess that less than half of the members who used to post there are still around. Apparently when you change a forum that people get used to, some members just leave and never return.

How else can you account for the members who have left or why this thread was even posted?
