That, and the abhorrent lack of regulation on firearms.
Seven Wishes wrote:Tell that to the Swedes, Swiss or Norwegians. Those tightly gun-restrictive societies boast per capita rate of violent crime that is about 20% of what it is in America.

I think that regardless of regulation on firearms if someone is determined to commit something like this, they'll get a gun one way or another.

Guess I probably shouldn't have brought up the tea party thing. Sorry.....

I support gun rights for those sane enough to possess them. The fact remains, you can walk into a Wal-Mart, flip them any photo ID, and purchase a weapon capable of blowing somebody's head off their shoulders.
Firearms need to be REGULATED and REGISTERED. Again, I reiterate. If they were required, this lunatic never would have been able to own one.

That's really all that needs to be said. To sit here and think/argue that this guy had any kind of rational alignment with any legitimate party or political platform is just a waste of time and space.

that is not true at all. if someone wants to get a gun they will. you can buy just about anything on the street. you can't stop someone who is not sane & wants to do harm to people. some are just wired that way... they're like a ticking time bomb.
what the problem was no one there but the shooter had a gun. maybe if someone had they could have stopped him before he shot up the place.

BS !
Of course you can get guns anywhere NOW with our current laws. Duh !!!
As I said earlier , in countries with strict gun laws , you won't be able to just get a gun , even the illegal way unless you got some $$$

There was someone else with a gun and gun fire was returned.

Exactly who would this punk ass kid steal a gun from ?!
With strict gun laws , stealing a gun would be as hard as stealing a tank or bazooka from the military. Not impossible but extremely hard.
And save me the " guns dont kill people , people do "
Had this guy walked in the grocery store without a gun , 6 people wouldn't been dead today.

And yes if firearms are restricted from the ordinary person, the only people that will have them are the government and the criminals leaving the law abiding citizens no way to defend themselves from either.

Look...the 2nd amendment is there so the citizens can protect their property, and so they can protect against the government....it doesn't say a person can stockpile automatic weapons, or even have ONE sub-machine gun. a handgun should suffice. Let's be real here....all you Constitution and Bill of Rights advocates are beginning to be quite silly....both pieces of paper are outdated pieces of antiquity.....time to redraft both of them....

actually, right about now....the idea of martial law, and a police state look pretty damn appealing. Get rids of the gangs, guns, drugs, and every other thing that is eating this country away from the inside.....

Then just deal with shootings as part of the 225 years package

Wrong. In countries with restricted firearms laws , it's nearly impossible to just " get a gun" , unless you have a large amount of cash.
