I never met Dean but I respected him. He was quite a character and will be greatly missed. My deepest condolences to Lula and Wyatt.

I haven't been on here for a little while.
Came on today to see how people who have been hit by the bad weather are faring, and saw this thread. It came as a great shock.

At first I thought it was a joke thread because Deano had flounced off in a huff again and was refusing to post. But now I see it is much much worse.

I had a few PM chats with Dan before Christmas because I was concerned about Dean, and when you are stuck over in the UK and can't phone or meet up with everyone, you do tend to stay out of the loop with what's happening. Dan kind of filled me in that Dean had some problems, but I still don't know the full details and I just wish I had PM'd Dean to try and help.

I guess that the big guy's heart gave out?

What a damn shame.
I would appreciate it if someone would PM me and tell me exactly what was going on and what finally snatched him away so young. How old was he exactly?

This might sound weird, but I loved that guy.
We never met but he beat me up about being a 'smelly Euro with hairy armpits and bad chiclets' - I had to get Deb to explain what chiclets even were!
And he wanted me to post up photos of my 'rack' - and again I had to have that explained to me.
I never posted pics, of course!

And he teased me about all that stuff on the Board, but he would always send me a PM to make sure I knew he was only teasing.
He called me 'Suzer.'

And I knew he was teasing. I got him.

And when I joined here I landed smack in the middle of Tapegate and Dean's fights with that Paul McCartney impersonator guy. My God! All those threads and posts scared the shit out of me at first but then I got addicted to this place. I logged in to read Dean's latest posts.

I looked forward to reading anything with Deano's avatar on it.
He made me laugh, he made me angry - but I loved that guy.

My two main memories of him which will be remembered forever are
1) that video he posted up of himself wearing a child's ice hockey helmet whilst gulping down beer and BELCHING!
And
2) his recent Train journey where he was drinking Jagermeister and he posted up pics of his Willy.
He PM'd me to make sure I hadn't missed the picture of his Willy.

I loved him because underneath all that bluster I knew he was a lovely guy with a soft heart.
I thought he was a handsome brute who wasn't really a brute. I loved his face.

His passion and conviction regarding his beliefs were admirable even if his method of explaining them was crude.

I just loved the big git to bits.

And no disrespect Andrew, but this place will never be the same without him.

And his family, I send my condolences to you all. This is a man who will leave a BIG void in your lives.

I don't earn big money. I can't afford the trip to the US, but I wish I could come, because I would have liked to pay my respects to you all personally, but circumstances do not allow me to do that - even if they did, I only just found out this sad news so I wouldn't have had time to get there for Dean's service.

Next time I play a live gig, I will dedicate it to Dean.

Love and hugs to the family

And to you Dean, if you can read forums from wherever you have passed on to - I love you, man.

I went to bed right after seeing this news about Dean yesterday afternoon and slept until about 4:30am this morning. It really upset me and it certainly hits close to home. Both me and Deano were battling a lot of the same stuff and we used to trade knowledge on our particular substances we were ingesting at that particular time which was mostly painkillers. At one time we were both in agreement that they were helping us fight whatever particular depression we were facing at that time or so we thought.Hell he used to say drop some vicodin over the middle east and they would all be best friends and it was funny at the time but in the end we both were paying the price for our vices were fighting.I am in a recovery program right now and clean and also just got out of the hospital because of some heart trouble i was having.I let Rip know how i was doing through a few PM's the last couple months as i was making progress in my fight for sobriety and even made a thread here about me trying to overcome my demons back in December. Now i hear that Deano had a heart attack so i was wondering if he might've already had some heart issues he was facing.I am feeling better now that i am clean and i heard Dean was doing much better too fighting his demons and was actually beating his too.I am at a loss for words and i hope Dean is in a much better place and i know he is not suffering anymore.

I have just about everyone's pics from all of those gatherings & trips because I wanted full documentation of them. For this one at my house I was too busy hosting (and drinking) to take any pictures myself.

There is an entire story about Dean dragging me to Lowe's hardware to construct that beer bong.

AR,

when you feel able and when you have time, would you please create a thread with all such photos in?
And put the screen names of everyone in the pics for those of us who haven't met our fellow MR posters?

I know that's quite a task, but it would be much appreciated.

You know, Dean's last post addressed to me was one where he offered to mail a shit load of Thera Flu over to the UK for me because I felt sorry for myself and we can't buy it over here.

It was worded in his usual blustering manner, but the kind intent was still there - and that kind of sums him up.

Can't believe he's gone.

I keep thinking about the last PM he sent me.
It was well worded and kind in a couple of sentences.
Back in October I sent him one wishing him well and telling him I prayed for him.
He didn't reply until just before this past Christmas when let me know how ugly he thought I was.
I don't think I could ever miss anyone else saying those things to me.
The contradictions of feelings, going from wanting to slug him then hug him.
He had a way about him alright.

Would that include 25 never before seen pictures from a post show excursion to a strip club that have never seen the light of day? (I do have them)

I could upload what I have to a photobucket album when I have some time. (minus the strip club pics) Anyone that wants to tag themselves could do that on their own.

you really did share some adventures didn't you?

I'd just like to see all the photos of him having a good time.

I'm sending my condolences to all of you who met him, knew him personally and who spent time with him in your day to day lives. He has left a huge void in the internet lives of his cyber friends, but this loss has to be way, way deeper for you all.

A lot of us did. Some crazy times!

Not going to sugarcoat things and claim that my relationship with Dean wasn't strained for a long time, but that is between him, myself and our Maker at this point. Things were a lot better the last few months and that was a good thing. I just choose to focus on the fun, the trips and the parties. :D

Yesterday I went shopping at a big Stop & Shop plaza that also had a fitness club, jewelry, etc., and a Hallmark Store.

I frequent the Hallmark store a lot & have gotten to know the nice Ladies that work there; we chat about everyday stuff in the store aisles and also at the register....anyway, one of the Ladies was not there; she had to go in for some kind of procedure / operation.

It's been well over a month, and I was actually afraid to ask where she was.

I was reassured that she is resting and will be back in a few weeks.....I almost started crying & started rambling about how I lost someone this past week that I didn't know personally, just via the Internet - so I was kinda on edge.

That's how much Dean's presence here has affected me.

I'm not taking ANY relationships for granted anymore.......

I'm glad you made things up with him in time.
And I'm glad you have some photos for us to share when you feel the time is right. Maybe now is too soon.

Carlos O'Charlies restaurant - Baltimore, MD 11/10/96. Judging by my bloodshot eyes I'd say that's the post show gathering. (We also had the pre-party in the same restaurant)

In light of our sad news I'm just scouring the Forum and reading some of Dean's posts. Feel like I need to read his words.
This one Posted by Dean on 4th February 2012 is very moving -

"Funerals.....meh!
Not our favourite thing to do. Lula just eulogized her very close brother-in-law today. Hit her pretty hard. She was lashing out pretty hard at me today, though it was none of her fault. She was was extremeley close to Ed, and loved him like a blood brother. I understood her actions.

Thinking back to August 2007, many of you here remember Louise and I putting our 3 month old son, Trevor, on a northbound train to Heaven, to be with God, Many thanks to folks like Lora,Cyndy and Stu, (God, I really miss all 3 of you so badly and want to see you all again soon). Last time I checked planes still flew to Los Angeles! Also, my two lovely grown children; My daughter Cheyanna, 22, was voted the best shortstop in NCAA Division 1 Softball and will be trying out for the upcoming Summer Olympics! My son Bruce, 21, (yes, named after Springsteenn), is a starting pitcher on Washington State's pitching sqad( no.2 pitcher). Anyway, for those here that don't hate me, (there has to be a few! - and didn't get a chance to see it, here you go: It still makes me foggy a time or three. It may be too sappy to watch again, nut here goes:

http://s75.photobucket.com/albums/i316/ ... Trevor.mp4

Thank you to ALL of you FINE folks here one last time. Right now, we're praying that we don't experience yet another one of these things happening to our family again this year."

I feel the exact same way. In fact I've been that way since last year having nearly lost someone - it's the kind of thing that really wakes a person up. You can't get time back and if you do happen to be lucky enough to be granted more time when you think it's not possible... wow, it really makes all the little stuff we get preoccupied with seem so dumb.
