A cd order came in today, so I've been pounding the tunes. The theme is cd reissues. (Airrace, Private Life, etc.) The one new album ended up being a clunker. (refer to AOTW.)

I'm also a bit angry with the local music store. I exchanged my Ra "Duality" cd, because it has a 2nd track skip that appeared on a majority of the 1st production run. Instead of letting me open a new copy to make sure that one didn't skip, the manager made me take it home and come back later if the replacement skipped. The 2nd copy skips (as expected) and now I have to waste another trip to get it exchanged again!

He tells me that he hasn't got any returns with this album. My response to that is their (usually young) customers probably don't play an album through anyway, and that they can't tell the difference between a good song and a skip.

I get this runaround bull everytime I have a problem there. That manager is unprofessional in every way. The young people he hires to run the store have more intelligence than he does, and that's not saying much. Instead of solving the problem by recalling the album and getting a fresh batch, he sells off the old copies hoping nobody will notice, then forces the few customers who do notice to get nothing more than store credit, all the while keeping every penny earned.

My bro knows the people above that manager of the music store. If I get the runaround again, that guy isn't going to have a job anymore.

Jonny: Airrace and Private Life are great! What do you think of those covers Tia Carrere did in Wayne's World?

Did something happen to Andrew's IP address? At work I can't get to anything with the word melodicrock in it. and a search on SamSpade gives an IP address that isn't hosting the sites. In Tasmania! Didn't he relocate to Florida?

Ok... since it's way early, I'm gonna hit the showers and start my normal day of crunching bits and bytes.

Catch ya all later when the DNS servers have been refreshed.

Indeed I have!

Jonny, I'm surprised how such a thing can escalate into you wishing him to lose his job over this. That's a little disproportionate IMO... Doesn't your local music store have on the spot listening facilities? I'd think that is a whole lot more efficient than sending you home with a possibly malfunctioning CD, plus the manager could hear the skip himself. :?

I probably wouldn't think that way if he was good at his job, but he's not. Maybe if it was a one-time mistake, but this happens every time I have a problem with a cd, and it's been like this for years. Yes, there are listening facilities, but you can't just rip open a sealed cd to see if there are any defects.

Hmm, if someone wants to listen to it, they have to rip it open, so what's the difference with ripping it open to check for defects? I guess it depends on the manager how much of a problem he makes of this, and how eager he is to keep you as a customer. Even if there are no other record stores around, you can always shop elsewhere, now that there is the internet.

I don't think I've seen Wayne's World. I've listened to Private Life a few times. I believe the reason it was reissued as a 2 on 1 cd, was because one album was weaker than the other, and probably wouldn't have sold by itself. That said, I preferred "Shadows" over "S/T," so it's pretty safe to say I will stop the cd after the 9th track from now on.

Airrace flat out kicks total ass. Keyboards rule!

Absolutely, you've got to check 'em out!

What's everybody up to for tonight? Myself, I'm gonna go and check out the lead singer of Dr. Drag, he'll be doing an accoustic set of mainly covers but also some original material.

And as usual, I'm off to Chinatown first for something to eat and then I'll have a Cuba Libre, Or two......

By the way, that TV I was close to samshing up is now burried and gone. Forever!

Sounds nice, sorry I missed it.... the concert will have finished by now, and I doubt if I can make it in time for the afterparty :( I've spent the entire evening chatting, drinking and talking. tomorrow I'm going to do something useful, like buying a new tv!

What's again in a Cuba Libre? Rum I think (yum) but what else? :?

Well, actually Bobbi bought a new TV! :D It is a very nice one, and with a good discount even, since it was the store model.

What did you have for dinner this time? (I'm lost for ideas... I always tend to cook the same things!)

This one is widescreen. Movies will be on the screen a lot bigger now, for a change! :D

I like that combination, I've had it with a simple cream sauce, but never tried it with dille.

I hope everyone's doing well. Our new sound card came in the mail today. My bro's gonna see if it's compatible with our system. We just might be recording very soon if it does work.

I'm off to work.
