Me too.

I do follow some of the news, however.

Nor have I.....I just don't care for the Winter Olympics. I love the Summer Olympics but not the Winter.

This crap about letting professional hockey players in sucks. Same with the summer olympics and basketball. That turned me off more than anything.

Bingo...think I agree...even though everyone else used pros...USA pretty much did NOT....now it's just a corporate blahfest....

Seeing our amateurs beat pros was such a great thing to see. Now it's pure commercialism.

Skaters on Ice is a Beautiful thing!!
I have to admit I've been on the fence about the whole Arena for Amateur Athletes thing
since the incarnation of The Dream Team. It was such beautiful sight that I seemed to
have forgotten, what are the Olympics about?!?! Anything for the "W"?!?! !!

Watched the opening ceremonies. You know, the ones that were supposed to be on at 7:30 and didn't begin till like 9 or something? Pretty dull.

Other than that- nope.

You guys are funny. You have no interest in watching it or following it, but you're interested enough in the rest of our interest to have a thread to talk all about how you're not interested in it.

the thread title has to do with who was NOT watching it, so the fact that the ones who ARE watching it are posting in this thread is the weird thing, not the other way 'round...

right?

Nope. 8) The ones who are watching it being drawn to a discussion about it is not weird.
Not watching it and making a point of saying "I'm not watching it", yet still discussing it is what's amuses me. :D

relaaaxxxx, I'm just handing out crap today.

I've been watching here and there. A little of the bobsledding, speed skating, snowboard racing, downhill skiing and such, and have found it fairly entertaining. But I just don't care to watch professional hockey at the Olympics. Just doesn't seem right. Although there is a lot of enthusiasm about it, surprisingly, among some friends.

Next we're going to start a thread discussing you discussing this thread. ;)

What? How great is it that teammates of certain NHL teams are playing each other for love of country? How cool is that the NHL closes down the season for 2 weeks, and these guys go at it at 100% versus each other for the flag? The NBA doesn't do that. The Dream Team was completely different. They played the a bunch of countries who have no stars in basketball. The NBA is predominatley US fueled as opposed to the NHL where every Olympic country has adequate NHL players on their teams. It is perhaps the most anticipated sports tournament ever, and so far has lived up to it.

I hear what you're saying about amateurs playing the pros of yesteryear. That was horseshit. Just because the rest of the world didn't classify heir players as pro, meant he US got heir asses kicked all the time. Pro's should play for their respective country as the are the best of what each nation has to offer. By the way, who's o say Lindsey Vonn isn't a pro? She makes money off endorsements...Shawn White is definitely a pro. What you want, a couple stoners fresh off the powder at Deer Valley, UT flying in and partaking in the Games because they aren't pros? The hockey pros, especially the hockey pro's are perfect for the Olympics. They are a different breed than the Dream Team. he DT was too good to stay at the Olympic Village. They had to stay at a 5 star resort. Meanwhile, the NHLers stay with the other athletes at....the Olympic Village. The Dream Team just reeked of elitism. I wish they would have lost.

I agree! Good distinction between what hockey and the NBA do.

THAT DREAM TEAM WAS AMAZING!!! WOW... GOD that was a once in a generation thing...

BTW... my opinion.... that the USA HOCKEY team in 1980 the team that beat the Russians was PAY BACK, kind of
an in your face cold war smack down... for what happened in Munich with the USA basketball team against the Russians...

did anyone else catch that Al Michaels program on NBC yesterday about 5p or so with in regards to the 1980 hockey team... MAN I got emotional watching that!! AWESOME!! I actually watched some of the Canada USA game last night... but was more into
the new ski racing..... that's cool!!

"did anyone else catch that Al Michaels program on NBC yesterday about 5p or so with in regards to the 1980 hockey team". I caught it Pretty neat to relive as i was a youngster living just down the road from Lake Placid when that went down. I have been in the rink where that all went down in 1980
