The "Glee - The Music Volume 3: Showstoppers" soundtrack arrives at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart as expected, starting with 136,000 sold according to Nielsen SoundScan.

The cast of "Glee" claimed its first No. 1 recently with "The Power of Madonna," when that seven-song EP arrived at the top with 98,000. "Showstoppers" is the third proper full-length soundtrack from the Fox TV show. The first two volumes were released in quick succession last November and December. This third edition includes highlights from the second half of "Glee's" debut season. A forthcoming six-track EP titled "Journey to Regionals" is due on June 8. (Don't peek at its tracklist if you don't want upcoming episodes to be spoiled.)

The cast of "Glee" blocks the Rolling Stones from re-entering the chart at No. 1 with the reissue of its classic album "Exile on Main St." The set returns to the tally at No. 2 with 76,000 sold after Universal Republic/UMe relaunched the album last week.

"Exile" -- which spent four weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart upon its release in 1972 -- was reissued last week in an array of configurations, including the standard remastered album, a deluxe version with 10 additional tracks and a super deluxe box set. A separate Target-exclusive set, "Exile On Main St. - Rarities Edition," which contains only the 10 bonus cuts, charts separately and debuts at No. 27 with 15,000 copies.

The "Glee" cast is also out in force on the Digital Songs chart, where their take on Aerosmith's "Dream On" (featuring Neil Patrick Harris) debuts at No. 13 with 84,000 sold. It's one of six debuts for the cast this week on the 75-position tally.

However, the highest debut on the Digital Songs chart this week comes from Miley Cyrus with her new single "Can't Be Tamed." The song struts in at No. 4 with a 191,000 bow. It's her second-best debut sales week for a download, following "Party in the U.S.A.," which entered at No. 1 on Digital Songs last August with 226,000.

"Tamed's" opener will probably lock up a top 10 debut for the single on the Billboard Hot 100 chart when it's unveiled on Thursday (27) morning. If it bows as expected, it will be Cyrus' sixth top 10 hit on the sales/airplay-hybrid Billboard Hot 100 (including one credited to her TV character "Hannah Montana").

Last week's Digital Songs No. 1, Katy Perry's "California Gurls," falls to No. 3, selling 231,000 (down 22%). Usher's "OMG" (featuring will.i.am) returns to No. 1 with 236,000 (despite a decline of 2%), while B.o.B's "Airplanes" climbs one spot to No. 2 with 232,000 (up 6%).

Back on the Billboard 200 albums chart, the kids of "Glee" and the elder statesmen of the Stones lead a jammed chart as four more albums also arrive in the top 10.

After the Stones, the next highest entry is the Black Keys with "Brothers" starting at No. 3 with 73,000. It's the highest charting album and the best sales week for the duo. The pair had previously earned both its highest charting set (and sales frame) when its last album "Attack and Release" debuted and peaked at No. 14 with 29,000.

"Distant Relatives," the collaboration album from Damian Marley and Nas bows at No. 5 with 57,000. It's the second top 10 for Marley, following "Welcome to Jamrock" (No. 7 in 2005) and the tenth top 10 for Nas.

Band of Horses and LCD Soundsystem also arrive high -- entering at Nos. 7 and 10, respectively, with their latest efforts. Band of Horses' "Infinite Arms" starts with 45,000 while LCD's "This Is Happening" opens with 31,000. They are the highest charting albums -- and best sales weeks -- for both acts.

Last week's No. 1 album, Justin Bieber's "My World 2.0," falls to No. 4 with 62,000 (pushed down despite its 3% increase). Lady Antebellum's "Need You Now" drops four rungs to No. 6 (46,000; down 15%), Usher's "Raymond v Raymond" is down one to No. 8 (41,000; down 6%) and AC/DC's "Iron Man 2" falls five slots to No. 9 (32,000; down 33%).

Overall album sales in this past chart week (ending May 23) totaled 5.31 million units, down less than 1% compared to the sum last week (5.32 million) and down 19% compared to the comparable sales week of 2009 (6.57 million) -- when Eminem's "Relapse" bowed at No. 1 with 608,000. Year to date album sales stand at 120.4 million, down 10% compared to the same total at this point last year (134.4 million).

Digital track sales this past week totaled 21.9 million downloads, down 1% compared to last week (22.2 million) and up 1% compared to the comparable week of 2009 (21.7 million). Year to date track sales are at 466.2 million, down less than 1% compared to the same total at this point last year (467.0 million).

I have such a soft spot for the Rolling Stones, and this reissue with little gems is a must have.

I love Madonna and still couldn't bring myself to watch Glee doing Madonna. Maybe I'm wrong and I'm missing out, but I've never watched the show.

I don't know why, but the name "Glee" sounds so fucking gay that I would never watch the show. From what I have heard of it, I am not missing anything but gayness. Nothing against gay people, it's just not my cup of tea.

Jana it was a great tribute. Even Madonna loved it.
The show is about every microcosm of high school and beyond and what it feels like to be the geek, the jock the cheerleader the nerd and everything in between. It's well written, acted and produced. The musical numbers are innovative and fresh.

As for autotuning, nothing being produced these days isn't autotuned, so don't let the words of others who've probably never seen the show tell you it's good or bad.

Yes, it's not for everyone, because some people don't want to go beyond what they know or try to understand another person's perspective.

Meh, Glee is my once-a-week piece of lightweight TV. It's silly and fun, it doesn't claim to be high art, it's completely unbelievable and totally unserious, but it also doesn't claim to be anything it isn't. It's a rare pleasure to find a show that pokes fun at itself without trying to be ironic about it.

No, it's not for everyone, but as far as brain candy goes, it's a damn sight less pretentious than 24 or Lost, and is a lot more realistic than any number of the countless 'reality' TV shows around ('Beauty and the Geek', anyone?)

As for knocking Rolling Stones off the charts, let's see...

Cover version, re-release, manufactured pre-pack pop, cover version, manufactured pop, cover version... yup, the music industry is in desperate need of some new blood pumping through those tired old veins. Or maybe the industry just needs some serious colonic irrigation.

Hate to break this to ya'll, but if you think Idina Menzel and Lea Michelle NEED to be autotuned, you're wayyyyyyy off base. Either of those two (along with many others in that cast) can sing the shit out or pretty much anything they're given. Now perhaps the producers DO use it to give the songs a "modern sound " (which I agree is completely useless) but make no mistake- many of these trained theatre folks don't need MICROPHONES , much less autotune.

Exactly. There are some really incredible singers on that show and if the auto-tune is overexaggerated at times it's meant to be, because they can use auto-tune without you ever know it it's been used. If you hear it, it was meant to be heard.

Lea Michelle has PERFECT pitch, and people like Kristin Chenoweth, Idina Menzel, Matthew Morrison, and a majority of the actors playing the high school kids are increidlbe. They're touring right now and the what you hear live is the real deal. AND, Glee is teaching lessons about tolerance and difference all the while proving just how neccesary music programs in our schools are. Any musician who can't get behind that message needs a reality check.

That's nice that they can pull it off without AutoTune. I don't doubt it. I haven't heard anything from Glee besides the DSB thing but I'm sure you'd have to be at least decent singer to get a gig on something like that.

But, it's not just whether they can do it without AutoTune - it's the fact that it's a fucking annoying sound/style that has been way overdone that most of us don't wanna hear! I know the Beatles made great music without reverse tapes and indian sitars. Doesn't mean it made that weird shit they did good.

I like club music, so appreciate her. I love Bad Romance.

I grew up on Madonna. You won't much like it. And everything is derivative, rock especially. She definitely has brought her own unique spin to it and in many respects is ahead of instead of behind the curve on club music, much like Justin Timberlake's Future Sex/Love Sound at the time (great CD). I've heard enough club music that is repeat of other music with no great hooks, and Christina Aguilera's new CD, save the ballads, may end up being like that.

Here you go, Matt. She co-writes all her music or writes it alone, like Speechless. but I don't consider her genius. I just consider her talented and different.

Bad Romance - Official video - http://www.youtube.com/v/qrO4YZeyl0I&hl=en

Speechless - Live performance (and acoustic at that) - http://www.youtube.com/v/_7HvURBhMGE&hl=en

Paparazzi -Live performance - http://www.youtube.com/v/hJoRPpN8jnM&hl=en

I have the songs I like of hers downloaded. Many I wouldn't relate to nor like for me. But she's talented and has her finger on the pulse of that genre and her generation. I'm sure she will keep evolving.

Matt, I think she's shone examples of genius in her writing, singing and performing. There's an early clip of her performing in a club, just her and her piano and it's amazing. I can't find it for some reason on the internet, but if I do, I'll share. She was a child piano prodigy and her musicality shines when you listen. On first glance, yes, she seems like fluff, but a deeper inspection reveals some pretty amazing thoughts and lyrics and lead and harmony vocals that no one is doing now. Yes, she's heavily influenced by the past, but I do believe part of her genius is taking what has been done and putting a different spin on it. They say there's no such thing as "original" only putting a new spin on what's already been done.

Hopefully you'll listen to some of her more subdued music and find an appreciate for her.

I should have looked further down. Jana has the video I was talking about, it's "Speechless".

Thanks Jana.

Oh, and SPEECHLESS was written about her father. "Speechless: Fear of Death, she's terrified about the death of her father and the phone calls he used to give her while he was drunk, she didn't know what to say to him so he left her speechless. She even threatened to give up her career if he had not had an operation to save his life. Hence "I'll never write a song, won't even sing along.".

Pretty cool stuff and way more deep than most listening would comprehend.

Exile sounding better and dirtier than ever. :) I got the Target one that charted at 27 too, the bonus disc only one. So Divine and, Dancing In The Light and I'm Not Signifying, just amazing amazing tracks.

Saying someone has the pulse of the generation is basically saying that she is putting out the SAME cookie-cutter stuff that every other current artist is doing. This sort of thing Is done all the time in the movie industry. New Line releases a ninja movie, and then Corolco releases one to capitalize on the novelty. Soon, you have every studio releasing ninja/martial arts films.....same with autotune, and it's derivatives....Cher wasn't the first, but she was the springboard for all the current garbage that uses it....Roger Troutman was the first I heard with, ' I wanna be your man' in the early 80s....now every producer releases autotune songs to capitalize on a current FAD. Funny, you don't hear any of this trickery in melodic rock.....

You don't hear it because they don't want you to. Got a friend in the business and he's done everyone from Bon Jovi to George Jones and he says every artist that puts out a major release is autotuned. Now a good singer won't need much, but it saves on time and money, that's why they do it with "good singers". He says you can't manufacture a sound with auto tune or pro-tools, if the singer can't sing and doesn't have a good tone, there's just no helping them.

I don't mind it. Cher used it for "effect", not because Cher can't sing. I've heard her live and she honestly can still outsing just about any new artist there is, no, she's no Striesand or Dion, but she can hold her pitch.

"As of this week, Lady GaGa's latest hit, Alejandro, is at the #9 spot on the United World Chart.

This makes her album, The Fame Monster, the only record in HISTORY to spawn seven worldwide Top 10 hits! She has just surpassed the likes of Michael Jackson, who's Thriller album contains six songs to make it into the Top 10!"

Alejandro. One of my favorite songs of her b/c it reminds me of retro Madonna music, light melodic great-dance-beat song.

I think the word "glee" should be stripped from the vocabulary of every red-blooded rocker. The word itself sounds anti-rock-n-roll. Just hearing it roll off someone's tongue sounds to me like, "I hate rock-n-roll and I am a gay fairy."

Stone Temple Pilots gets to be the Brides maid this week, as Glee holds on to the #1 spot.
Carole King & James Taylor still in the Top 10 at #9. Their PBS special is probably giving them a great boost at the moment. They'll be on all week, good show if you haven't checked it out yet.
