LEBRON and ESPN

what does everyone think who follows the NBA?? For sports talk its great...for everyone else it seems risky to me... what if LeBron doesnt deliver an NBA championship to the city he goes to...just saying...
In Iowa last year our local stations and ESPN covered Harrison Barnes Decesion to go to North Carolina #1 recruit in the nation... so this to me is the same kind of thing... this is pretty amazing...
I wonder if Favre is jealous now, that he didnt think of this, when he left GB...

Teams, some in LeBron James camp caught off-guard by television program
Wed Jul 07,2010 9:59 AM ET By Kurt Helin
You thought the LeBron James television special idea came out of the blue, imagine the teams that have been courting him?

According to Brian Windhorst of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, officials from the teams that met with LeBron did not know of the television special until the word broke on ESPN last night. Here is his tweet:

Teams & even several people in James own camp were blindsided when hearing about ESPN show.

I'm told none of LeBron's suitors know his decision. It seems possible of all them could remain in dark leading up to tomorrow night.

ESPN will broadcast LeBron's decision as part of an hour-long special Thursday night. The idea was hatched by LeBron's shrinking inner circle, who took it to ESPN. As part of the deal, LeBron's team will sell sponsorships to the show, with the money going to the Boys & Girls Club of America.

It seems impossible -- and even more egomaniacal -- to have Cleveland learn if its heart is broken on national television. Same with the other cities that will feel shunned if and when James turns his attention to whatever city he chooses.

This all has the potential to be a public relations disaster for James.

Unless he chooses to remain in Cleveland ...I think it is selfish and lowdown, I don't care how many charity names
you're putting behind it ...it being the income generated from this reality extravaganza!!

I'm hoping he'll announce that he and Kobe are secretly gay lovers and they are going to retire, move to a cozy farm house in Pennsylvania, buy a dog and adopt a chinese baby girl.....

I am thinking he is staying in Cleveland...dont know why, just hearing from different sport talk radio guys, they have no clue either...
I dont think he would go to NY Knicks or Nets... those teams are TOO LOUSY...

and besides, I dont think you put on an hour special to leave do you??? what would be the point??? To crush those fans even more?

It would never work...you would have three superstars and it takes five to start and that's not even talking about the fact you would have no bench....

I'm guessing NY, but who knows...Seems to me this guy is a heck of a lot more interested in fame and money than championships...I'm no Laker fan (hate them all actually), but on his best day James is not fit to carry Kobe's bag in the gym...some step up...some fade away...you fill in the blanks...

Who really cares about this shit? It's fucking nauseating being on ESPN every 15 minutes. The guy definitely doesn't seem to care about a championship, or he would stay in Cleveland. Now my pick is New Jersey. They can offer more than anyone else, and could probably bag Bosch too. Their owner is Russian billionaire with a ton of international contacts, something James seems to want- international super appeal. My pick- New Jersey.

after 8 years in the league would he want to rebuild in JERSEY??? and pay a hefty tax fee... MIA would be my guess if he were to leave...you have the lure of beaches and a tax free state... no winters to live in...MHO... but its a disaster down there waiting to happen... injuries, drama, and souring of friendships if all goes horribly wrong...my money goes to he stays in CLEVELAND...
just a hunch...and its been fun today to listen to the sports talk guys wondering where he will go... ;-)

He would stay in Cleveland if he wants to win a championship? How exactly is that going to happen? Cleveland's not exactly the 'championnship' capital of the world. They could not get it done last year and they have done nothing to help that in Cleveland, not to mention that his teammate was bagging his mom.

I would agree with you on the New Jersey part...that man has MONEY to spend and that goes a long, long way....not as far as baseball (yet), but a long way....

I predicted Jersey a while back as while. Russian owner, Jay-Z, team will be moving to a new facility in Brooklyn in two years...plus he wouldn't be playing under Jordan's shadow (Chicago).

Honestly though, just get it over with...

No matter what he does, this is a huge lose-lose proposition for him. He is going to be demonized in just about every city he didn't go to at this point. If he goes on national TV to give a condescending "break up" speech to Cleveland/Akron, which get enough hate from the national media as is, he will never be forgiven here. He just looks like an idiot and I think he's doing irreparable or at least long-term damage to his image, which seems so important to him.

I think he stays here... huge X factor is the free pass he gets with the Cleveland media.

The other take is that this whole smoke screen about him attempting to recruit Bosh to Cleveland is a total falsity that he and Bosh collaborated on so that he can say "Look I tried to get Bosh here and he wouldn't come, I gotta go somewhere with a better roster."

There is so much shit that goes on with LeBron (e.g., dickhead behavior at restaurants - showing up 10 minutes before close, racking up $2K bill, leaving no tip and saying "I'm here, that's good enough for you" when confronted), his mother (being a crack addict, getting DUIs and kicking cop windows out in her belligerence), and his entourage that the Cleveland media simply lets fly under the radar that will be all over every tabloid in any major city.

... And I haven't even started talking about how the guy has the heart of a raisin and thus quits in big games time after time.

Know who the smartest player is in all the LeBron sweepstakes? Nike. They haven't said a word or tried to influence shit one way or the other. Thus, people will continue to buy their shoes/assorted sweatshop products.

Give me -0- stars, a great group of talented, NBA qualified
types who want to work together as a team, a lot of class and motivation and we'll call
them a Piston team ...when JoeD remembered how to form them!!

Really? Still have to beat LA nd that is never happening with Kobe Bryant on the Lakers. Besides, Miami isn't getting all three anyway.

As a Celtics fan, I'm remiss to say this, but I think he's headed to the Knicks.

There are 3 teams in the East alone with the potential to win 55 if he goes there (New York, Boston, Miami).

LOL. Please cease talking sports. LeBron, Amare, and the Doritos crumbs comprising the rest of the Knicks with no-defense D'Antoni at the helm are going to be a 55 win team? Same with Miami and Bosh-Wade.

What about 'em? They're softer than melted ice cream.

Chicago is where he should go, but this guy is going where he can rule, and he can care less about winning.

By the way 7, Chicago could win 60 with him and Rose.

I think LeBrick is gonna stay in Cleveland and have no chance at a title for a few years (2-3). The current roster has absolutely no leadersip or heart.
