Just downloaded the tracks...first impression after 2 spins - 5/10

Not much variety with 3 guitarists, the "gallop", and the same ole...same ole.

I'll spin it a few more times....I'm sure others will like it. Glad I sampled, it would have been a waste of money...

I'm saving my money for new Goo Goo Dolls....      :P :P :P

The album artwork hasn't been as good for the last three albums, in my opinion. I liked the art for "Brave New World" but then there was "Dance of Death" with that nasty computer-drawn crap. The last two are better than that but it's gone downhill, overall, in my opinion.

So that's the guy who has drawn the album covers? Always wondered who that was, lol..

How do you think this stacks up against "A Matter of Life and Death"? Is the muscial style different? More old school Maiden sound or slightly more progressive?

I'm not a big fan of anything post-Brave New World, an album which I believe is Maiden's crowning achievement

Save for "Paschendale" from Dance of Death, all efforts since have been weak, by the numbers....

Maiden is best when writing historical epics....

I think I like it about as well as "A Matter of Life and Death" and perhaps a bit better. Both are solid albums. I hear some Seventh Son and Somewhere in Time-era stuff going on there. "The Man Who Would Be King" sounds reminiscent of "Alexander the Great" from SiT. Overall, I'd say a 7 out of 10.
