Any fans of Terry Brooks now anything about these adaptations to the silver screen?

Hobbit looks like it is a stand still....this movie should has been made 5 years ago!

and the Terry Brooks adaptions are optioned but have no scripts....WTF is wrong with Hollywood?

Instead of spending time producing movies about Devils in elevators, movies about talking Great Danes, and Death Race 2....how about producing more fantasy movies? Harry Potter made billions of scratch....LOTR made billions of scratch.....

I think they should change their name to HollyWouldn't!

There was movement on the Hobbit this week, with Bilbo allegedly being cast. This early out from filming, I'd take it with a grain of salt. But Freeman, (Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy), has long been a fan favorite and an obvious fit.

As for Terry Brooks, Hollywood may be reluctant to bankroll any fantasy epics given the recent underperforming returns of fantasies like "Stardust", "The Golden Compass", and the last Narnia. The failure of TV's "Legend of the Seeker" may also prevent Brooks' works from being adapted in the near future. Frankly, I'm surprised to hear about The Dark Tower becoming both a TV series and a film franchise this week. You hear about it? Talk about risky.

Actually, when I was in high school, Holly would......in fact, twice! I never did nail her sister though. :P

Yep. Ron Howard....doin a Peter jackson. Filming all 3 DT movies at once....personally, I'd rather see Brook's adaptions. King's stuff is hit and miss in translation. Especially when something is fan driven, and not author driven....fans screamed for DT books, and King obliged. Author's churning out books to shut fans up never fare well.....

A series that should get the film treatment is Raymond Feists Riftwar Saga...

I read the first 3 Shannara books when I was around 18-19, I think -- "Sword", "Elfstones", & "Wishsong". Loved them all, but never got into the others after that.

I just read about the Dark Tower project. Hmm... Movies with a TV series to bridge in the gap. I never got into Dark Tower and know very little about it. I do know that most TV adaptations of Stephen King's work suck for the most part, and I probably shant be watching it.

After what they did to Ursula LeGuin's Earthsea Trilogy (can we spell abomination, children?) I'll happily keep Hollywood away from my favourite fantasy novels, thanks. I do wish the BBC would get back into it, though - they do fantasy as well, if not better than, they do sci-fi, but they seem to have been avoiding it recently.
