Boy, I bet this guy will be glad when 2010 is over. What a crappy year it''s been for him. On the good side though he's still alive and kickin'.

Brett Michaels is an idiot...He has diabetes and I can guarantee you that his lifestyle has seriously contributed to the bad things that've happened to him.

I love how the genius who wrote the article still can't spell foramen correctly even when it's IN the MD's statement in the very same article

I can't say that I've ever been a fan of Bret Michaels & I have no knowledge of his alleged poor lifestyle choices, but he does suffer from type I diabetes which can cause all sorts of serious medical complications. I've never seen one thing about his medical problems being alcohol or drug related.

Same, if anything he's had to be really careful given the significant additional risks... Was he a druggie / drinker?

He may have been both but not sure.

He has lived the life of a Rock and Roll frontman....and the excess has caught up with more than one of the 80's bands..it sucks but the 80's was the time of money and excess...and they all took advantage.

Best of luck to Brett and he has my prayers....he is way too young for this crap!

Folks - what are we basing this off of? Any real testimony of fact? I have never heard this to be the case with Brett....

I think he had addressed that he has not followed the "rules" of what a diabetic should have done.

but a lot of my patients don't follow the rules either...but they end up losing a limb...there are many vascular issues associated with diabetes.

he said himself on a poison documentary on VH1 that he had passed out onstage back in the 80's on poison's tour with ratt due to partying too much and not keeping up with his diabetes regularly.he also had a car crash in 1994 where he hit a pole and totaled his ferrari when he blacked out which also had to do with drinking and his poor management of his diabetes.he has had several wake up calls before but kept on pushing it.

Ok - so there it is...still, diabetes takes it's toll exponentially on those that suffer from it - many people (aka most of Motley Crue) have lived the life to the extreme, and are still alive and look remarkable for their age...alot of this has to do with genetics

Agreed... there are many who go through it without a problem.

There are many more who suffer the consequences of what a Rock and Roll star gets...not pretty at all.

Motley Crue?? Genetics?? How many facelifts has Vince had? Mike Marrs looks half dead (and is, although I still give him credit for hanging in there.) Tommy Lee the Hollywood guy probably directed Vince to the best plastic surgeon. I have a bit of respect for Nikki Sixx, who after all he'd been through managed to turn his life around.

Brett Michaels has himself to blame for a lot of his issues now. That being said, I hope he gets through this last bit of surgury in great shape. He's actually made a better name for himself in later life. I managed to catch a few of Celebrity Apprentice and he basically impressed the hell out of me. Nice to see some guys grow up!!

No bullshit, I saw Nikki at a Best Buy in Thousank Oaks, California a few years ago....for an aging rock star, he looked really good...some of us win the genetic lottery , most of us don't. As for Brett, I'd wager much of his health issues are due to things he had much to little control over...just my take.

Gawd you're telling me. After reading Crue's book and just finished reading a Guns n Roses (unauthorized) biography, I'm surprised any of them are still alive today. Well save for maybe Axl, who from this book didn't seem to be as much of druggie/drinker. LOL a$$hole maybe, but not much of a druggie.
