Why we grew up in the greatest music generation!!!

I've been sitting here enjoying my vicodin and checking out youtube videos in amazement. We (well most of us here) are from the greatest era and generation of music ever. I honestly don't think music will EVER get back to the peak in the 80's/early 90's. The talent, the backing from huge record labels, the fans that actually BUY the music and support the artists... it's basically all gone.

Here are a few examples of what made the 80's/90's so great to me. These kind of live (well, mostly live) performances are becoming extinct....

1. Heaven Tonight:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WJR1rzTz6s8

2. Top Of The World:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c6U7OOFv ... re=related

3. Is This Love:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eADGmHraHTs

4. Heart Of Stone:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QKVb6KvK ... re=related

5. Separate Ways:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-7uGcACB ... re=related

6. Nothing Else Matters:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JFanFFKm ... re=related

7. That Was Yesterday:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5MZiSntiI08

8. Angelia:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Z8NnpmqfCs

9. Straight From The Heart:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ebtjgK8 ... re=channel

10. In My Dreams:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RMELFNoqOAg

11. Forget Me Not: (Couldn't find a good live version)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Qol7z-k ... re=related

12. Show Me The Way:

These are just some of my favorites. Don't know why I'm even posting this, but thought some of you might like them. That, and I'm high as hell!

Great picks B! I've never heard the Norum solo stuff, and it sounds a LOT like Europe to me! I'm gonna check Itunes tonight to see what they have. Lita Ford... Oh how I love thee! :P  Your other songs were great picks too.

I just scored a 90 count of 10/325 Percocet. looks like we all belong to an exclusive MR club. hahaha, fuck off all you squares, people who don't like pain killers. :P Mike, I am pretty fucked up with shoulder and knee pain, but I also had a stomach ache this morning. No problem, popped 9 percs, poof! Problem solved, and oh yeah, I am in a pretty goddamned good mood too.

Jimbo, you're living in your youth and nostalgia. I grew up on 80s music, so where my heart is, but to call it the greatest era and greatest generation of music ever and ignoring all the brilliant music that came in the '70s and I guess late '60s is kind of mindblowing, sorry.

Overall, I'd have to go 70s as MY best era of music. Followed, closely by '89-'93.

89 to 93, what a great four years of music for me: TEARS FOR FEARS: Seeds of Love and Elemental. DEPECHE MODE: Violator and Songs of Faith and Devotion.
SEAL - his BRILLIANT debut album - plus the equally brilliant followup in 94 (kind of a toss up on which was better). MADONNA: Like a Prayer and Erotica.
U2 - Acthung Baby and the experimental Zooropa.
1993 - BABYFACE - For the Cool in You. 1993 - TONI BRAXTON's stunning debut album. Eurythmics live album.

Uh-oh, most of this is not MELODIC ROCK. I shouldn't have listed. LOL

A lot more in that period. This just came to mind.

Fifth Angel - Time Will Tell
Valentine - Valentine
Silent Rage - Don't Touch me There
Shark Island - Law of the Order
Saraya - Saraya
MSG - Save Yourself
Giant - Last of the Runaways
Babylon A.D. - Babylon A.D.
Alice Cooper - Trash
Danger Danger - Danger Danger

1990

Vixen - Rev it Up
Nelson - After the Rain
Trixter - Trixter
Lynch Mob - Wicked Sensation
Jagged Edge UK - Fuel for your Soul
House of Lords - Sahara
Firehouse - Firehouse
Eyes - Eyes
Y&T - Ten
Pretty Maids - Lethal Heroes

and that's just the first 2 years.....

Again, not to harp on your music. Honestly. But those are the mainstream, popular bands. The Alias is the only obscure one on that list....

Two of my all time favorite albums right there. Hard to match that kind of music and inspiration. Some of the '90s were just as good as the '80s.
