Someone has got to invent a pop-up blocker for television!

I'm sick of how TV stations insist on running a crawl across the top or bottom of the screen over every little thing. Or how there's a storm in one county in Ohio, and they insist on having a big map of the entire state taking up 25% of the screen.

I wish someone would invent a way of blocking those crawls and maps and other crap from being on the screen.

Do the TV stations in your town do that same kind of stuff all of the time?

Yes, and there are a few stations where the volume of the program you're watching and the volume of the commercials are vastly different. The commercials blast you out of the room. I did have a tv with a volume normalizer, but lightning took it out.

Guy goes out and buys a state of the art tv, including "volume normalizer", but......lightning takes the fucker out. Classic!

I hate those ads...I also hate the stations permanently placing their damn logo in the corner of the screen. The worst are the ones on TBS advertising that dipwad Conan O'Brien's show.

When in reality I'm a horny old man.

But it pisses me off when there's a chick with a great ass on the screen, but you can't see her ass because of the stupid station logo in the corner.

I have never gotten into Conan. I have never found him funny. Back when he had Max Weinberg on there, sitting behind his kit, as the lead person in the band, I thought that looked hokey as hell. I give big props to Weinberg for his musicianship, but he just looked so odd the way he was situated on that show.

Can't stand that guy. Agreed on Weinberg also. He's a good drummer but he always had that stupid fake, huge smile plastered on his face. That drives me nuts. Either smile for real or don't smile at all, for crying out loud.

I'd like to get ahold of one of the first original TiVo boxes that automatically deleted the commercials while recording shows. Obviously, the ad people weren't a fan of this.

I watch as much as I can through the computer hooked to the TV. History, Nat Geo, PBS, most of the stuff I watch can be steamed And I watch a lot of DVDs and downloaded HD videos from Demonoid. I have a little western Digital Box which lets me hook my hard drives and portable storage devices straight to the TV too.

I never cared about the channel logo being in the corner... it's easy enough to ignore... but like what you're saying with those animated ads that they do now for other shows that pop up... THAT is distracting. And stupid.
