The planned classic-era Dokken reunion now may be off the table, but that hasn’t stopped three quarters of the band from getting together to lay down some tracks, both old and new, and taking a little dig at the missing member in the process.

George Lynch has told Classic Rock Revisited that he has formed a new band with Dokken alumni Jeff Pilson (bass) and “Wild” Mick Brown (drums) called Tooth and Nail, named after a Dokken album. “That’s Dokken without Don,” Lynch explained. “The record is called Dump the Chump.”

Pilson, who now plays in Foreigner, is a very capable vocalist, taking the mic for the brilliant Lynch/Pilson album Wicked Underground in 2005. “When the Dokken reunion was not going to happen we just said, ‘Why don’t we just do this? This is way cooler,’” Lynch told Classic Rock Revisited. “Many years later, we are doing it and it is just for fun. It is half new material and it is half old Dokken material.”

Lynch says Tooth and Nail have already started recording, and will finish work on Dump the Chump around the end of the year, after his and Pilson’s schedules have cleared.

This sounds cool. Wish they had gone on without the slight towards Don of "Dump the Chump". (Even though it cracked me up when I read it. )

The show in Allentown, PA has what has to be the cheapest ticket prices on the tour. $69 and $49

This might be why:

"In 2009, Obama visited the Allentown Metal Works plant, touting it as a symbol of the nation’s manufacturing might — an employer that would benefit from his $787 billion stimulus bill. But by 2010, the plant had closed, laying off its workers and ending a century of manufacturing history in Allentown."

I guess Billy Joel was right then. 8)

I'll just keep listening to Up From The Ashes. I can't imagine the new tunes from FauxDokken being all that.

Jeff is a fine singer and THE reason the background vocals in Dokken were as good as they were. I'm looking forward to hearing this!

Mick Brown (drummer) isn't bad either:

Dokken - Crazy Mary Goes Round

(BTW, that's Reb Beach, from Winger, on guitar.)

I'm all for it - we'll see how it turns out. Not even sure how much Mick is sticking with Don these days. He wasn't present in Dallas the last show, which was a real disappointment.

The reason it's called Dokken, though, is BECAUSE of the lead singer's last name, though.

Lynch and Pilson have already recorded together, with Jeff (of course) on lead vocals.

Funny how Jeff was too committed to Foreigner, and now he's doing this. If Mick Jones ever sacks him, not that he will, will Jeff ring up Don to check if there's a vacancy?
