I do. Even though last season's Cavs season was one of the hardest sports seasons in my sporting fan career because of LeFuck and our subsequent awfulness, I never lost my passion for watching NBA altogether (it did waver for a bit). I'm glad we'll have a season this year. I'm interested to see what Kyrie Irving looks like. Personally, I have my doubts.

Anyway, there's some interesting deals on the table already:

The Nets are looking to get Dwight Howard in a three-team deal.

The Celtics are looking to swap Rajon Rondo for Chris Paul in a three-team deal.

Thoughts?

Personally, I think swapping Rondo for Paul would be a horrible, short-sighted idea for the Celtics. It seems the KG/Paul Pierce/Ray Allen ship has sailed its last bona fide playoff voyage. I don't think adding Chris Paul changes anything other than potentially disrupting the good chemistry that team once had (before Perkins for Green). Rondo is younger and seems more solid than Paul (even though Rondo's no ironman himself-he's been hurt). It seems more sensible to reload with Rondo and try to add players like Kevin Love in the future. It's not like they'll be a terrible team in the interim.

In short, I don't really care. That said, I grew up a big Celtics fan during the Larry Bird years, so it's tough not to pay attention. As for the Chris Paul for Rondo deal, I don't agree with your assessment that it would be a horrible deal. Paul is clearly the better player between those two guys. I like Rondo and like him a lot. In fact, he is one of the only players who I have ever seen completely dominate games without being able to score. The guy is a HORRIBLE shooter. If he could actually shoot, he would be a top three player in the entire league.

The Celtics run is over, with Garnett, Allen, and Pierce. That said, there is zero doubt in my mind that they are up to something. I was absolutely STUNNED when Doc Rivers signed a 5 year contract to keep coaching this team. I was certain that he was not coming back. He knows how old his core group is. He also knows that Garnett and Allen come off the books next season. The Celtics will have more money than any team in the NBA to spend next year on Free Agents. Rivers is a very well respected coach by top players around the league. Because of that, I believe the Celtics will have a great shot of signing some serious Free Agents next season.

I can care less about the NBA. College basketball is much more exciting to watch.

The NBA risked becoming even more irrelevant than it already is, compared to the very charged college scene. Yes, a lot of people still like the NBA, but it's popularity has dwindled, with many more people becoming fans of college basketball. I think it will be interesting to see attendance throughout the league to see if they suffer, much like MLB did with their strike some years back.

If they would shorten the seasons, it would make it a lot more competitive. It would force the teams to take each and every game more seriously.

I don't think they necessarily need to shorten the season. They need to reduce the playoff teams. Having .500 or sub-.500 teams make it in year after year from the East is embarrassing.

They also need to go back to best of five in the first round. Gets it done quicker AND maximizes upset potential.

I don't think it'd be a "horrible" deal. Perhaps I misspoke. I just don't think it makes a lot of sense to mortgage the future on Chris Paul anchoring the point for whatever big free agents they plan to bring in (Kevin Love comes immediately to my mind). The guy has been on the decline for the last couple of years and is frequently hurt. I'd rather have Rondo, horrible shooting and all, dishing dimes, grabbing boards, and the like with the other new blood the Celtics plan to bring in.

Frankly, the "big three" thing was a short-term solution that has worked out a bit longer and better than I ever thought it would. I figured they'd contend for one season and get old pretty fast. They've gotten older, for sure, but they've been a bona fide championship threat every year. But still, if I were the Celtics, I'd be trying to mold my next "big three" with a little more youth in mind. The window will be open longer.

I went to a couple Portland Pirates hockey games way back. I wasn't sure if the minor league would be as good as the NHL but it was just as entertaining! The talent pool of hockey runs deep.

Most, if not all people who think the NBA is "boring" have no clue about how great these athletes are. I think what they are seeing on TV and what not makes them believe that anyone can do this. These players are so fucking great, they make it LOOK real easy, but it's not. And RedPa, yes, most are black, but what sport isn't? Hockey? No doubt it is, but unless you live in Canada or up north, no one give's a shit about hockey. Hell, I live in Florida and have never even been to a Lightning or Panthers game and never will. I just can't get into it. I've tried watching it and I just don't get it. Players getting called for offsides. How? Why? Something about the blue line they can't cross unless another player or 3 more are right there with him, why? Seems like to me they got rid of the blue line and offsides call it would open things up more. The biggest hurdle for me trying to watch hockey is that I can't identify with the players. With most players being from other countries it's all fucked up.

Good one. I think your going to see a different Lebron this year and it's scary to think isn't it. While I'm not a Heat fan, I do enjoy seeing the great one's show us their talents. Like Magic, Bird, Jordan, Pistol Pete, The Dr. & The Skywalker, they are missed when they hang up the laces.

By the way, have you seen Rubio play yet? That fucker is the best passer I have seen since Maravich & Earl the Pearl.
