"Outta Space"

Need no polar bear to scare me,
no Eskimo to share with me his fate.

Woo! We outta space

No blog-o-sphere to sell me.
No dolphin needs to tell me.
No starving kid
to make the case.

Counter blast, interstellar facial full.
Bumper sticker on my rocket's ass:
"Go Home. The Earth Is Full."

Outta space, Outta space
Outta space, Outta space

Eighty acres of one stop shopping
has somewhat changed the place.

Woo! We outta space

I do not refuse it.
I am guilty, I do use it.
I am the reason
we outta space.

Counter blast, interstellar facial full.
Bumper sticker on my rocket's ass:
"Go Home. The Earth Is Full."

Outta space, Outta space
Outta space, Outta space

[solo]

Danger rides the web tonight.
Burst mode dynamite.
Spinning up my Facebook page
and I'll ride out towards the outer maze.

The future ain't what it used to be.
Time to change my galaxy in case
we outta space!

Trouble-free Earth despocrats made
Mother Nature piss her pants and when
That's human way.

Counter blast, interstellar facial full.
Bumper sticker on my rocket's ass:
"Go Home. The Earth Is Full."

Outta space, Outta space
Outta space, Outta space

Maybe just the band member that wrote the lyrics.

I don't know what their, or Roth's, agenda is, but those lines are precisely why VH lyrics should never be separated from the music.

actually i think roth is a massively underrated lyric writer......to be primarily non-political and simply writing lyrics about the rock life style he has certainly delivered some pretty classic one liners over the years.

But, I say no!
I think they are saying the earth is full, they are guilty
of contributing to the clutter ...however, they are asking
everyone else, who may happen to be treehuggers ...
FYI, we thought you were doing something ...you're failing!!

I agree. Even if they/Roth are "tree huggers", the tone is completely different & unexpected by him saying that he is part of the problem & picking on those classic ads.

Another point, I realized, is that even is this a "tree hugger" song, I don't think it's meant in too strong of a manner. OK! So we are over populated. What's the worst thing he is saying? Don't build any more strip malls...that he admits going to? I doubt he is trying to tell the WHOLE WORLD to stop screwing & having kids!

No one hates a socio-political song more than me, especially from a band like Van Halen. But I really think this is more like an assessment of what is happening than a call to arms (ala Springsteen).

I don't care if DLR is a tree hugger or not, that song flat out rocks

Was that one of the ones written in 1976?

Such a great album. Can't stop playing it.

'76, '77 ...the energy crisis and the great inflation.

I like the original lyrics better. Just a party song.

Kidding actually - I think the re-work is kind of clever lyrically. I did love the original demo though and I'm astounded it never saw the light of day before now.
