When was this not ok to make dog eater jokes?

Ever hear of a Chow? It used to be illegal to raise them for anything other than human consumption......in China.

I've tasted it and it wasn't bad. I was out partying with some of my wife's friends near Manila. There was this bistro that had
a grill going with some tasty looking skewers. I was lead to believe it was some kind of marinated chicken, by my wife's cousin.

The next day they were laughing about it while telling my wife of their prank. Still, it wasn't bad. If I had known it was dog
I would have naturally passed.

The dog joke was funny and topical. Generally the requirement for the jokes at that event. If people are dumb enough to make an issue out of the fact that he was served dog meat early in his life, then I think it makes great material for a joke. I'd say the same the other way around. The fact that Dems tried to make a big deal out of Mitt's dog in a carrier on the roof of his car is pretty dumb. We have serious problems. But those problems are not to be solved at the correspondents dinner.

I'm glad you thought that was funny. I'm not even sure his wife thought it was funny...it took her several seconds to hash out whether or not she should laugh.

The depths some people will go to in order to defend this piece of shit stinking up 1600 Pennsylvania ave is beyond me..

He doesn't eat dog, he was fed dog. And if more than half the country elects someone that has different cultural experiences, then they are saying let's embrace differences in America.

That said, I think this president has very serious flaws (being fed dog once not being one of them). I do think he is out of touch (most presidents are). And while Romney may fix some things if elected, he will come with his own set of problems.

I'm just saying i think there is a lot to criticize. But to jump on this dog thing is really more of the distraction I've been warning people about these past few months. People are not looking at the real issue.

Can't we just look at this for the joke it was and not turn it into another lame excuse to criticize or praise someone?

The point is that he brought it up himself...

He admitted that he was fed fido as a child...but he said the joke, he raised the issue above what it was....

To compare this to the arnel situation, this would be like arnel posting a picture delightfully dining on a beagle after the web discussions 4-5 years ago. That's what's bizarre about Obama's actions....it's not fueled by blind hatred. If you can derive that from my posts, um, you're reaching....

OK so when people talk about it and bring it up all over the place, he brings it up and cracks a joke about it , and you still have a problem with it.
So if he would even attempt to joke around and get closer to his people, he is still doing it wrong. I guess he's damned if he does and damned if he dont !

It was topical because it was in the news all last week or so. And the joke is kind of making fun of something that should not have been raised to the national level of discussion (in my opinion). I'm sure the jokes were written and crafted over several weeks. To be honest, of all of Obama's comments and Kimmel's comments, it's the joke I laughed at the most. Maybe the only one, really. Because it highlighted the absurdity of the "discussion". I don't think people should eat dog. I mean, I guess if that's cool in your culture maybe it's no different than me eating a cow. I don't really know anything about it. But I can pretty much guarantee they are not serving Rex A La King at state dinners. I think I laughed so much because it was really out of left field, really unexpected.

Read my comments from the last few years - I've got plenty of issues with Obama. I'm just saying let's make them about real issues.

You know why I can't agree with this? Because I really can't point to much of what he has done, but I really hate many of the things he has done. For example, I despise how Obamacare was pushed through. I Despise the EPA and all their growing powers. I hated executive orders under Bush and have more to hate now.

Obama has done nothing substantial and has barely engaged since the beginning of last September. He doesn't engage, congress doesn't act. It's like we are at a stand still. We are on auto-pilot.

I read a story that said Obama has had more fund raisers these past three years than the previous seven presidents combined. And he is out touting plans that have no chance of fixing anything. 1% VS 99%? Come one, that has always been and will always be a cop out argument. Do the math. We could take all the money from every wealthy person and it would not even come close to making a difference. In fact, I love Jon Lovitz's recent comments on this. And on that subject, Lovitz is just a great American. When he beat the crap out of Andy Dick for Dick's comments on Phil Hartman, it gave me hope for this country.

War on Women? Even I know that is about as stupid as it comes. I hear these slogans and I think wow, that's going to backfire. I think some conservative leaders/wanna-be leaders are pretty backwards on some of this stuff, but in general it's not the case. Hit them on gay marriage, but war on women is lame.

I don't feel like the president goes out and tries to unite and lift people up. It's so much negativity. Look at Clinton. That guy struck the right balance of criticizing while not acting like the other side is evil. That works. Anyway, enough from me today. Lovitz rules!

My health care costs are higher. Most analysts say much of the increase is because of Obamacare. Because of his changes, my FSA plans will be cut in half next year. That simply sucks for a family my size.

My taxes will be through the roof next year if Obama has his way.

By not focusing on job growth early on and doing more for the private sector, my ability to earn a wage has greatly decreased. 3 years ago, I was offered a job paying $50k more than I was making. I settled on making $30k more and staying where I was. The job I had been offered is no longer there and a similar job would now be about $30k less than I make. We were just notified that we may be taking a 20% pay decrease soon and we have been laying people off for nearly three years. I worry every night that I am next. I do not blame Obama for the start of it, but I do blame him quite a bit for not allowing money to return to the marketplace. His regulations are simply out of control.

Gas. I have three cars in this family and my fuel costs are through the roof.

I can't let my dog out at night. He may very well have people roaming neighborhoods looking for dinner.

Are you telling me that your healthcare cost ONLY went up DURING Obama's term and was the same (or kept going down ) during Bush's term ? My healthcare has been going up about 2-5% each year the past 8 years , regardless of who is in office. Much like the cost of living and gasoline

How does your taxes change next year compared to last year and 4 years ago ? Explain please My taxes have been pretty much the same the last 8 years Ive been at this job. nothing drastic, up and down a bit but overall pretty much the same.

In regards to the job , OK so because you didnt take a chance and settled for staying where you were, Obama is to be blamed ? We all take chances and sometimes we end up better and sometimes worse. A President has pretty much zero influence on gas prices. They go up and down based on the market and how much we are willing to pay to middle eastern countries. Of course he has the option to release some of our reserves but thats just a short term solution.


The last point your make is valid. No dogs are safe after dark, but then again look at the cats, theyve been living in a dangerous enviroment ever since Chinese restaurants become popular in US

1. Changing the direction of Iraq/Afghanistan war. Ending the Iraq war, where we had NO business to do with and focus on war on terror which leads into #2

3.Provided tax credits to first-time home buyers through the Worker, Homeownership, and Business Assistance Act of 2009 to revitalize the U.S. housing market.
4.Saved the collapse of the American automotive industry by making GM restructure before bailing them out, and putting incentive money to help the industry. While Im not in favor of bailouts or "rewarding those who fail", the GM/Chrysler bailout was needed to save our auto industry.
5.Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act of 2009.

As far as the job thing, I know I didn't explain it well, but I'm actually glad I did not take that job because I would have been laid off. And that offer came toward the end of the Bush term, or maybe right at the beginning of Obama. Where I blame Obama is that his decisions, lack of decisions, Obamacare, and the insane number of new regulations have prevented money coming back to the market. I work in a field that requires loans and free-flowing money. If everyone holds on to theirs because of uncertainty, it kills us.

My heath care costs have gone up $120 a month in the past 16 months. Yes - they were high before. Yes, the increased some before. But nothing like this. And if Obamacare stays, our employer has already told us they will drop the coverage altogether. I don;t hate all of Obamacare. I do like many parts of it. But the way it was written, negotiated, passed, etc. is criminal.
