Surgery is Tuesday

My surgery is Tuesday, June 25. They will be doing two procedures in the same incision. They will be removing a bone spur that stabs into the nerves for my legs, and they will be graphing two bones together to fix a problem of a deformed bone that has gotten worse with age and degeneration. It is causing a bulging disc from the pressure of the deformity above.

I would appreciate kind thoughts, prayers, or whatever you would like to send my way.

My daughter has come home to help me get ready for the surgery...she has helped around the house, and has just been there making my time before so enjoyable! She is going to be there during my surgery, and she will take me home that afternoon unless they have a problem I hopefully will be able to go home Tuesday night. She plans on staying with us till mid August. My husband's work will not let him off the day of the surgery.

My daughter is amazing. I am very lucky to have her here during this time! :D

What does your husband do, man the nuclear arsenal? Cause it's pretty sad they won't let him off.

You will be better for the wear and these days, there is less and less to worry about in these kinds of procedures. It will be over before you know it. Prayers for you.

Send prayers to God for a quick recovery where there is no pain and no aches and you can live your life without fear of ever re-visiting this time of suffering.

Thanks for all the well wishes. I know it is for the best. As for my husband it is because he is the only one who can do his job right now, it is also the long day for him and no one wants to replace him even if they knew how to do it. He might be able to sneak off for a couple of hours to check on me.

Steveo I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers when they work on your knee, just let me know when your getting it done. :D

My daughter is a sweetheart. :D I missed her because she moved away and we have had a great time catching up. I hate she has to be here, but I am glad she is!

That's usually how it works! My brother ignores my mom and he gets the prodigal son treatment every two years when their paths cross. Meanwhile, I do all kinds of stuff for her and get the door stop treatment.

I'm having my knee operated on July 11th. I'm taking medical leave for the rest of the month and ?????? Our Daughter will be in town on the 24th, on vacation. I hope I can walk by then. We want to go the the hydroplane races and then to Seattle for a couple days.

Hey, just realized today is YOUR day. Please update us when you can. God bless you and I hope you feel well and be well real soon!

Thanks Annie. I didn't mean to bring my issue to Ginger's thread, but only to let her know I understand what she's going through.

Hey Ginger, I know we've interacted only a couple of times, but I learned very quickly how gracious and sincere of a person you truly are. I hope only the best for you and that a speedy and pain-free recovery are yours in spades!

I am home now. They kept me for three days. I kept having severely low blood pressure and I could not move enough to even roll over till about the second day. They put two metal bars in my back that are permanent...aught to be very funny setting off metal detectors at air ports and such!   The bone spur is removed as well. I should be healed totally in about 6 months. Right now I am on mighty strong pain killer and a muscle relaxer so I will be in and out on here from time to time. I had 5 incisions. Two to accommodate the metal poles they put in. The pain in my leg is completely gone though right now...that is a great sign!

I am having to use a walker, because I cannot walk without one right now. It is times like this I really miss Deano because he would have a field day at that one alone. He used to crack me up so much teasing me calling me an old lady at times. :D

I can't do much for myself right now so thankfully both of my grown kids are home to help me with everything. I have to get up and walk around and sit up as much as I feel I can do to strengthen my back. The more I do the stronger I feel. So Steveo when you get your knee surgery do what the therapist tells you even if it hurts like someone is pealing the flesh from your bones...it really will make it better sooner.

I get the staples out of my back in two weeks. In two months the wounds should heal. I still cannot bend over or twist in any way for over 2 months. I find I drop everything now...LOL

Steveo I will keep you in my prayers for your time.

I know this hurts like the blue blazes but I am so glad I got this done this summer. I could not have done this during the school year.

Steve, JRNEYMAN, thank you for what you said, that was very kind.

They don't let your rest in a hospital...the bed is uncomfortable and they come to take vitals it seemed every 30 minutes...it takes me a while to sleep so I never really got any good sleep except in cat naps. My daughter stayed with me every day and night and we both plan on crashing tonight . Rose was there for me helping me do everything...she is 24 years old and very wonderful...my son helped at home getting things ready for me to come home. The hospital staff was wonderful...I think they were some of the kindest people I had ever met. I have to say the food was really good too. All in all outside of the pain it was not so bad. I feared it would be worse in my head.
I feel like Dorthy today...there is no place like home...there is no place like home...there is no place like home!

And I miss my MR friends...thanks to every one for your kindness and well wishes...the surgeon said it was the easiest one he had ever done and even finished early doing it. I did not know anything from the time they wheeled me in till I woke up in my private room...that was nice too! Hugs to all of you. It will be so nice to not to live in pain any more once this heals. :D

so what the fuck kinda drugs you on?..sounds like a morphine/codine high to me...enjoy that shit Ginger, when they ask you about pain on the 1 to 10 scale..always tell them 10...

{/deano}

     yup, that would be his response. :D

I will be just glad when rolling out of bed and sitting up is not my hardest thing to do.
