I think this one has now taken the record as the most wandering from subject to subject thread as has ever been posted here.

I think it is hilarious!

Natural progression to talk about the weather, Suite.

The Title Track Is great
I Am is good
Stand Up is good
Loves Like a River is increadable

Now I know where you are coming from. But I cannot understand how anyone can like "I Am" OR the titla track really. "I Am" Is so boring that it is on permanent skip! FTLOSM was a CD where I could hear what Perry was trying to do but not succeeding at it. I love his voice, even then, but his songs were getting booooring!

I think these comments are uncalled for, which doesn't matter to you Monker. It's kind of mean to make fun of someone's physical features that they were born with.

Steve Perry himself makes fun of it . And, you're right, what you think of it means very little to me.

SO I have read most of the court documents for DDY's suitand I must agree that it sounds like he had a slam dunk case. While I am glad that Styx can continue, I do think it is a shame that DDY was unable to see the suit through.

Couple observations:

DDY would have been due profits from the 1999 tour and merchandise.

Of course the following CDs would have been affected in some way. But it appears that, for the most part, all Styx would have had to do is affix a disclaimer that DDY is no longer a part of Styx. (Seems similar to what Perry wanted form Journey...that all future products listed who was in Journey as to not 'confuse' the consumer into believing that Perry was still a part of the band).

What else?

Here's something to think about...

If DDY had 'won' this case, we would have nothing. I doubt very much that Tommy and JY would ever work with Dennis again....And, since JY and Chuck still had control over part of the Styx name, I doubt they would ever let Dennis tour using the name "Styx" in his promotion (as in "The music of Styx" or "Formerly of Styx" or whatever...I would expect them to do exactly what LRB has done to BSG over the years....and after years of legal moves, that case may finaly be recognized as being settled.

27 July 2005

The long running legal issue between Little River Band founders Beeb Birtles, Glenn Shorrock and Graeham Goble and current LRB title holder Steve Housden over marketing of the name Little River Band in association with BSG tours has finally been settled out of court.

In a settlement reached today before going to court in Florida tomorrow, Steve Housden has agreed to abide by the June 2002 Deed of Settlement and allow Birtles, Shorrock and Goble to refer to their heritage with the name Little River Band in marketing to promote a tour or release.

Housden joined Little River Band in 1981 and acquired the sole rights to the name of the band in 1997 after the last founding member Derek Pellici left..

"We can now say we are the singers from Little River Band, the songwriters from Little River Band or the former members of Little River Band" manager Paul Rodger tells Undercover News. "We can now go to America and use the name to refer to the fact the guys wrote and performed in Little River Band".

This now means that Birtles, Shorrock, Goble can actively promote their 'Full Circle' CD and DVD in the United States.

The recent tour had been aborted due to the outstanding legal issues but the group now plans on rescheduling the tour.

I never knew how many bands went through lawsuits and band members, holy cow. I guess I never really looked beyond what happened with Styx and Triumph until I became a member on this board.

As for the Little River Band, I think I only know one song. I can't think of the name, but I can hum it.

Yes, I'm going off topic, like usual. Does anyone have Little River Band Greatest Hits cd?

The song I was humming to was "Lady". I just looked up the lyrics. I also know "Lonesome Loser". For some reason I remember roller skating to that song at the rinks in high school. I'm sure I know a few more, I'm going to try to find some song clips on them this morning.
