Airplay

Postby sadie65 » Sat Dec 17, 2005 12:46 am

I couldn't find the thread Classic started. This won't move Heaven and Earth, but I did hear DDY's Christmas song on the radio this morning. I found it a nice thing, just as I found it nice when Styx got some radio play. Since it appears neither will ever find top 40 success again, I just enjoyed hearing it happen.

And of course, the dj's afterward saying that his voice blows them away and how good he is didn't hurt. LOL.

Well it made my Friday morning.

Have not heard it down here in Texas on the radio, but no surprise. Apparently if it does not say "Styx" on it, it does not get any attention.

Even stuff that has Styx name on it today, doesn't get much attention. Unless they come up with a song about female body parts, or killing someone or the bubble gum pop that permeates the airwaves they don't have much of a chance...

I heard Dennis' song on 2 of our radio stations :)

The BREW here in Milwaukee play Styx all the time. I'm hoping to hear "Castle Walls" soon on the radio. I request it a few times -LOL It's funny on a few stations, when I call, they know me right away and say "Hi Suite, more Styx today?" - LOL Actually I know the dj's which is nice!!

I'm so happy when I have my Styx Fyx - LOL

No kidding, with today's music that's what it's all about. There really isn't that much good music with today's artists - ACK!!

What is the deal with female body parts in songs and in general? Sheesh!! MEN!! OY!

I haven't heard the song myself. But to be honest I only listen to talk radio and CD's. And since I have the Dennis song, I can listen to it whenever I want.

There is a station in town that only plays Christmas music for 5 weeks a year. I should probably call and request it, since they surely have a tighter playlist during Christmas.

That's what this station does. It's an AC station that switches to Christmas music the day after Thanksgiving. I only caught it because I was channel surfing. As a rule I tend to listen to cd's in my car, so this was a pleasant surprise.

Talk radio is something I don't normally get into, but it has it's place to be sure

Styx needs to remake "She's a bad mammajamma" originally by Carl Carlton in the 80's ( I think )

The Chorus:

She's built, she's stacked, all the curves a man likes.......( etc )

Put a JY solo in there, and it's a sure Santana moment !!!!

LOL!!! See, this song I wouldn't mind listening to if Styx re-did it. This one I'm okay with. Maybe they can do another cover cd and add it

Well, okay, it's 98% males and 2% females that sing about their assets.

I was listening to AC/DC yesterday and I just "got" part of the lyrics of "You Shook Me All Night Long" and what they were talking about!!

MEN ARE PIGS!! LOL

Now you say that like it's a bad thing

I have to wonder if we aren't just following the model that is rather age old now....each generation seems more...racy I suppose than the previous...just a thought
