How would I be able to find out which session musicians played with Toto through the years? Any help would be much appreciated!

Do you mean on record or in concert?

The irony is that ToTo began (and still record as) session musicians....

I think it could be in both concert and recordings - looking for a particular guy - nigel/nige/nile griffith who might have played with them......any ideas about where to look?! Thanks to all. Happy Saturday! Jan

I looked on all my Toto albums and didn't see any such name. Don't have the new one yet though. Don't recall hearing or seeing anyone with that name on any of their tours either. What does he play?

Hiya

Thanks for that!!! (He's a drummer by the way Jimmy.) I shall look at your website RR and see what I can find. I have also posted the same query on one of the Journey forums, as he was meant to have played with them at some point in the 80s. Trouble is that I can't find any mention of him anywhere. I think I need Magnum PI on this one! Much appreciate your time in writing back and helping. Happy weekends. Jan

Journey? He may have been one of the hundereds of drummers who auditioned for them back in 1986 after Steve Smith was cut. They ended up going with Mike Baird. Back in early 1974 some 30 or so drummers were auditioned after Prairie Prince left when his Tubes schedule got busy. Aynsley Dunbar ended up getting the job then.

Thanks Jimmy. I think it was in the 80s. He said that he played some gigs with them. Things don't seem to be ringing true though, as can't find any mention of him being with either Journey, Toto or Rick Springfield (that's another one he says he played with)...... I think somebody's being economical with the truth which is pretty gutting to be honest. Could he have been a roadie with them? (Or is that a dum idea too?) And by the way, I am grateful for your help to date, so please don't feel that you have to put any more of your time into this - I'm sure you've got better things to do! But anyway, it has been much appreciated. Best. Jan

Well I've never heard of anyone else other than Steve Smith or Mike Baird playing actual gigs with Journey in the 80s. Not impossible but mostly improbable. Sometimes certain musicians will "stretch" the truth so to speak. An audition or an opening gig in another band for the band in question will suddenly turn into "having played with" the band in question.
A few people have written me asking if a person had ever played in this band or that. Onetime, I received a question asking if a certain musician had played in Iron Butterfly. Due to info I'd received before from a certain IB insider, I was able to tell this person that the musician in question had once auditioned for them and had been chosen as singer but that that particular version of IB had never actually made it onto a stage due to the classic lineup reforming shortly afterwards....
