Is there consistency in support of Journey and Styx?

Postby AnnieOprah » Tue Apr 11, 2006 4:02 am

All this Journey talk has gotten me thinking...is there consistency in the support of Steve Perry vs. Journey and Dennis DeYoung vs. Styx. For example, do those that support Dennis DeYoung also tend to support Steve Perry? And do those that support the current incarnation of Styx (sans DDY) also support the current incarnation of Journey (sans SP)? I am just wondering if the fan support is as consistent as the way the Behind The Music Episodes were put together.

Styx and Journey are my favorite groups, Styx being #1.

I totally support Dennis DeYoung. I support anything Steve Perry does, if he comes out with anything. I don't like what the current Styx did to Dennis (blah blah blah), BUT I will see them in concert for free. I love Tommy's songs and I miss hearing them live.

I support every line up of Journey, I have no problem with their situations because I'm just enjoying their music from the past to the present.

It's all about the music, well for the most part

From a slight "outsiders" perspective, it seems to me that most Styx fans have come to accept that DDY did what he needed to do. And most seem to think the rest of Styx did what it needed to do as well. Many may not like that it happened or think it was done "right", but they seem to accept that this is what it is, so be it.

As for Journey, it would seem many fans still have not "accepted" these things.

At the end of the day, why wouldn't you support DDY, Perry, Styx and Journey just the same? That really boils down to whether you think the bands have attempted to maintain the level of quality they sustained before the lead singer was replaced...

Treading ever so lightly here. Speaking for ME only, let's just say I am a fan of Styx with Dennis and Journey with Steve Perry and I will leave it at that.

I don't know anything about Styx, but I do know our Journey board is re-opened. I know a lot of you are sorry to hear that (classicstyxfan  ), but I think you will see a lot less BS over there from now on.

Well Neal, if those who needed to learn their lesson did so, then I am glad for all of you at the Journey board.....

But, given the history of repeated warnings/scoldings by the moderator, and the limited impact they had, I will believe it when I see it for at least 3 months.

I sincerely wish you the best of luck with the "Journey lite" board.
