Musicians make strange bedfellows. Look folks, it could be worse - you could be a Van Halen fan! At least Styx fans have choices to see some version of the real deal live.

Zan wrote:I agree with Allen(!) in that the tour schedule with Dennis is more condusive for Glen, and I'm happy for Glen that they're able to make it work. Nothing more.

I think Glen went in with eyes wide open and must have ironed out whatever issues he had with DDY. He had to. I don't see him doing it - now more as a full time gig - without making sure it's a good situation all around for him.

Zan wrote:And I think Ricky is a fine bassist. He suits the band nicely. Is he Glen? Uh, no. But at least he doesn't set fires off stage or anything! ;-)[/color][/b]

Well, after Glen, I think they wanted more of a Chuck - someone who may do some vox, but who just shuts up and plays bass. Four lead singers in Styx seemed to be a problem :P

In an interview that JY gave around the time that Glen left, he had said that he and Glen talked about Glen's lead singing time and that wit four lead singers there wasn't much time for Glen. He had also said that with post DDY lineups that he considered Tommy to be the most recognizable voice and that was who they were going to feature.

Glen's stage presence is huge and nobody could have replaced him. IF they wanted the bass player to be more in the back ground and not so "up front" then they got what they wanted, because Ricky has no desire to sing lead. But Ricky's stage personna is also very good, it's just different.

Oh yes, the events that led to Dennis being booted have to be more complicated than Dennis coming down with an illness and the other guys not wanting to wait. It seems to me like there were multiple power plays going on. I also think that the Tommy, JY, AND Chuck had doubts as to whether Dennis was really sick. To me, Chuck's siding with Tommy and JY speaks volumes. Chuck and Dennis go WAY back and it doesn't make sense Chuck would abandon Dennis unless there were strange things afoot. Alas, we may not know exactly what transpired. Maybe the book that's being written can shed some light.

I disagree 100%. Her points and her comments are based on an agenda that is anti-Dennis DeYoung and she goes out of her way to stretch things and imply things about Dennis, his family, and the situation with Styx. She is in effect a very polarizing figure. Some people like her and others can't stand her. If you think she "rocks", good for you. Frankly, I think she is full of it. People just need to take her comments with a grain of salt and realize that she has an agenda.

Annie, I think you need a valium. You don't have the slightest idea about Zan. I've known her for many years and she is a great person and a solid musician. So what if she thinks differently about Dennis than you do. I love Dennis but I don't think he's blameless in the saga that is Styx.

Eric

Didn't ever say he was...But he ain't 100% at fault here either and that is what Zan wants you to believe.

jeez annie, get over it already! this is a bulletin board about a BAND.... if this has you in such a tizzy, i can imagine what the rest of your life must be like. unwad the panties. go enjoy some REAL fireworks instead of trying to ignite them here. I think the majority of us are tired of hearing aobut it... just like we're tired of the styx vs ddy ordeal from 1999. Everybody is touring. Everybody has the opportunity to see their favorites up on stage. life is pretty good isn't it. :)

happy 4th of july everyone!

Not the only one here that is bringing up 1999. Talk to Zan...talk to Froy...talk to 90% of the people that post on this list.

Zan! That's the song that Glen could do live with Dennis.. "Killing the Thing That You Love!"

Why didn't I think of that before! That would be great!

Jodes has officially lost his mind. I had my suspicions before, but now I am certain. ;-)

Although, that *would* be a great sounding song! Oh, the irony - fans could complain that he really meant for it to be about Tommy and JY...and of course, Froy.

I don't think that's what Zan wants any of us to beleive. She just doesn't want any of them to be characterized as a saint when they are all sinners. (There goes the religious analogy)

1999 was the year of the divorce when most of the issuse to day surfaced publicly. While there were issues before this with the band, the divorce elevated it to a higher level. Most of the issues today stem from 99, although I am not so blind to realize there were issues well before then.

Any of the Cyclorama songs takes on a different meaning when sung in either camp.
