Dying on My Feet: Good or Shit?

Postby The_Noble_Cause » Fri Jul 07, 2006 2:01 pm

Meandering?
or a superlative transcendental spiritually-uplifiting piece of musical craftsmanship?
This song really travels everywhere, doesn't it?
It doesn't wander aimlessly either. It really takes the listener places.
Not sure I've ever heard anything quite like it.

Awesome song..!

You thought you figured out where the song was going, and BAM...it takes a turn to a different direction...happens at about 2 or 3 places in during the song...never heard something quite like it before...

Nice to see you post again..!

What do you think of the rest of the songs from FIB..?

I dig that song...4th fave off FIB after the title track, King of the World and Let it Go.

Still digesting.
As everyone has already noted, the most immediate and digestable tracks are 1,3,4.
And like everyone else, I wish "Simple Life" was longer.

Something doesn't sit right with me on the track "No End in Sight". Parts of it sound up-tempo, but the lyrics and content is decidedly not up-tempo. Like I said, still digesting.....
Saw them in concert recently.
Bobby's a monster!

Despite oozing all the rock star sex appeal of my local pizzeria owner, Bobby remains a vocal tour de force!

I really like this song I've never heard anything like it before either. And thats really cool it start up in a slow kinda jazzy tempo then it builds up to an mid tempo and then turn a around a couple of times really cool.
And yes Simple life they must have a longer version of it.

This track def. features the most memorable Lukather solo on the whole album.
This damn thing won't get out of my head - and I don't mind one bit! (yet).

This is great song,And the most surprising moment in the song is the heavy riffing in the chorus. Before i got used to that i almost felt
that the heavy riffin did not fit in properly.

I'm not necessarily sure that is a good thing, the horn section comes virtually out of nowehere and doesn't exactly fit in with the rest of the song.
The arrangement on many of these songs sounds impressively intricate....has me going back for repeated listens.

Love the ending...too bad they'll never be able to play it live (unless they toured with Chicago and borrowed their horn section or something).

"No End In Sight" might be my favorite song on the album, I think that would just kill live.

I like it alot, too, not necessarily sure it is congruous with the rest of the song though.
As for re-creating it in a live concert setting, couldn't they do that with the keyboards?
A few of Toto's songs have horns in them.

Don't care for it. The song sounds up-tempo while the lyrics are decidedly pensive.
