Missing TOMMY!

Postby styxdudebrandon » Sat Sep 02, 2006 3:33 am

I am no expert and I do not have any inside information... thus I am just speculating.

Tommy has been conspicuiously absent from posting comments in his websites, over the past three or four months. This frightens me as since 1996 the only times Tommy has had prolonged absences (or long periods with only a few minor posts) has been when Tommy has been struggling. Such times have mostly centered around band member conflicts but there has been nothing to indicate that the various members of STYX are not happy. The one thing that has come to mind for me is that STYX did not contract for 2006 tour dates for the major cities where in they have previously played ARROWFEST / CLASSIC ROCK REVISITED concerts. Considering further that the ARROW radio franchise did not put forth an ARROWFEST tour this year, makes me wonder if the band has had some contractual issues this year, or maybe there has been a significant diminishing of interest in the band.

Considering that the band has been playing concerts somewhat steadily over the past few months makes me wonder why Tommy is not posting to STYXWORLD or to CRYSTAL BALL.

I just hope that maybe the band is currently in the studio for a new album, but that Tommy is just being quiet as he focuses on work.

Does anyone have any insights that they would like to share?

I have also been wondering why Tommy has not been posting.

In the past the only time he really wasnt posting was when Styx had breaks in their tour schedule.

Makes me wonder???????????

Maybe JY is suing him too for making posts that weren't critical enough of DDY.

Actually, I think with all the lawsuits flying around, JY sued himself by mistake, so he's sorting that out.
Yeah, I've noticed Styxworld is REALLY quiet these days. I HOPE it's because they're in the studio producing a new STUDIO record or ORIGINAL MATERIAL (yeah, I'm sure it'll be a live one...), but it's not like them to be so quiet.

Oh, my sides...

You know, not to step on anyone's aspirations of becoming top-notch detectives oranything, but it is possible that a) he's doing other stuff right now that take his time away from the internet, and b) he's burnt-out on it right now and needs to regroup or recollect himself. Not everyone can post day-in, day-out on message boards, as much as that may shock some of us. ;-)

Brandon, Tommy was doing a lot of posting on his Myspace account soley. Now I've heard he might have deleted his myspace account (trust me it's a good thing, Myspace is nothing but trouble!)

And he did post some stuff on Styxworld in July and August.

Now Tommy has nothing to do on where they play, that's Styx's management. Many festivals don't book bands two years in a row because they want to keep the lineup for their events fresh and try and get in as many people as they can.

As for diminished interests, I think Styx being the "opener" in England (a country where they have never had much success) for Deep Purple could lead to a similar tour in North America, maybe later on that spring/summer. Throw in another band like Survivor, Loverboy, The Outfield (if John Spinks is healthy), Eddie Money, etc and you might just have a ticket that people would like to see.

Then you would see Styx and Deep Purple on a bigger amphitheater tour across the US.

For the past 6-7 years, the "package" tours are definately drawing them in.. Just look at the Def Lep/Journey tour, or the ZZ Top/Skynyrd tour a few years ago. They made money hand over fist.

But don't expect too much in the next few weeks from Styxworld while Styx is off the road.. They need their downtime too!
