Right... and Cyclorama and Big Band Theory is two releases. So what is your point?
My point is Styx is out selling DDY in the US! Styx came in at 47 on the Billboard album chart with their last CD. How did DDY do with his last CD in the US?It must be hard for him to sell many copies when he's selling them out of his basement.
Let's be clear and not twist the facts like you are so apt to do, Chicago Styx. BBT was on the chart for exactly one week and it was simply a result of them being on the Today show the week before. That is it - on today they plugged the album - as a result for one little week it got to #47 - amazing what the top morning news show will do for you. But alas, the CD was off the chart the following week and to my knowledge didn't even sell 15,000 copies - hardly the success you claim it to be.
If you want to look at stats - check out Amazon.com. It will show that DDY is kicking Styx's A$$.
I think we have been down the Amazon road on this board before. I can remember bringing up the Amazon ranking when BBT came out and I was shot down by several DDY supporters claiming that Amazon rankings meant absolutely nothing. Apparently that has now changed. That’s good to know because we have 2 new Styx products coming out in the next year.

ChicagoSTYX wrote:Not that this matters but if you look at the rankings at Amazon today 9/13/06 BBT Amazon.com Sales Rank: #6,654 in Music
DDY live (with Paradise Theater rip off cover) Amazon.com Sales Rank: #21,064 in Music
So now what???? I guess they don’t count anymore.

And if you break it down it probably means Styx sold 3 copies last week and DDY sold 1

Dont pat yourself on the back too much because if you must know Amazon.com is NOT the be all source for music buyers!
There are actually other places to purchase music!!!

styxfansite wrote:I am new to this forum, but didn't Jy or Tommy admit that CYCLO didn't do well? Also if you read the reviews on Amazon or on any other site, there are different emotions about BBT. Some users say that Styx is a "Cover Band", and some users enjoyed it. I think it is ok, but not great and NOT STYX. What you want to look at is this:
How many DDY Dvd's were sold during an amount of time.
Now look at Styx BBT and Cyclorama, and compare it the same way.
Cyclorama I remember seeing has only sold 15,000 copies. BBT, I am not to sure about.
Also add this from Wikidpedia:
A new version of Styx featuring Shaw, Gowan, and sole remaining original member James Young released Cyclorama in February 2003. Cyclorama sold few copies and to date has only sold approximately 15,000 copies in the US, a far cry from the 3 million plus that the band routinely sold in the late 70s and early 80s. This edition of the band also toured extensively through the first half of the decade.
In 2005, DeYoung released a CD of re-recorded Styx hits from a solo concert with a symphony orchestra (titled "Dennis DeYoung and the Music of Styx,") while the remaining members of Styx recorded a new album made entirely of rock covers. The new CD, "Big Bang Theory," was released on May 10, 2005, and reached #46, Styx's highest chart position on Billboard's Top 200 in 14 years, but failing to garner much staying power, only staying on the charts for 2 weeks. DeYoung's CD became a big hit in Canada, garnering triple platinum status.
As of April 21, 2006, according to the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) which awards artists and groups gold/platinum status, Styx ranks #127 with 17.5 million[5] records sold within the United States. (The Beatles have sold 165 million units.) After they finish up thier tour. They will take a few months off to record a new album due out next Spring.

Has anyone found this interview or have the transcribed version? If this interview was done in Chicago where He, Dennis, Chuck, John P., and John C. were from I would like to see what he says.
Thanks
