Actually, Rounder is still his label. A division of UMe.
Styx is on New Door, a division of UMe.
Both have deals. Neither has released true new product in awhile. Yawn.

Give that man a prize
New Door is "less" of a label than Rounder because New Door is like CMC - a label for "has beens" (so-to-speak) who generally happen to have back catalog on UMe. Look at their other releases such as the Tears for Fears.
Either way, to say that there's no label interest is 100% wrong and uninformed.

Froy, I wasn't addressing why DDY was holding or not holding back 12 songs. I was addressing the comment that there was no label interest.
Now to your point, as far as I know he's under no deadline to deliver an album, so why should he feel need to pressure himself? Now, if he's holding out to work with Tommy, that's kinda foolish if you ask me. No reason DDY can't release an album AND then do one with Tommy (or Styx) if they reunite in some way.
I also think DDY wants to make sure that what he delivers is top notch and has some rockers as well as some ballads to silence those who say he can't really rock anymore. His next album is going to be pretty well planned, and since he has no deadline, why shouldn't it be?
EDIT: I also think that since GLen is back in the mix, some of those songs DDY wrote will not make a final cut and they will be replaced by collaborations, or he may resurrect some of the Son of Edge stuff like "All for Love".

In my opinion the best thing that DDY could do would be to make a CD that sounds like Styx. If he does that then I will be impressed. If he does what I think he will do and makes a slow boring show tune CD with songs like the new songs on his live CD then I will know that he has lost it for good. Either way I'm sure this will be his last release if it ever sees the light of day.
