"That Other Guy" - DDY

I know I joke about that description of DDY that JY likes to throw around in interviews, but did he ever really say such a thing? Can someone post all the anti-DDY quotes from JY...providing they don't crash the server, that is.

Instead of listing all of that here, which is probably virtually impossible, you can get a pretty healthy cross section by going to the unofficial JY site at www.jamesyoung.ws and clicking on, I think it's labeled "press interviews" or some such. You can read most of the interviews he's done that still have a continuing link online, and many if not most of them since 1999 have some sort of slap. In researching the book, I found it almost comical.

Don't get me wrong, DDY is not without his quirks and not without his flaws, but JY has managed, in his own mind, to subtly re-write everything in Styx history to make it look like everything bad that ever happened was Dennis' sole fault, while JY and Tommy are the patient, long-suffering victims. Very funny. He conveniently forgets in every single one of these interviews that Styx has always been a majority rules voting situation and that they could have out-voted Dennis at any time.
If you want to look for more, there's also a couple of articles that came out in the British magazine Classic Rock that are particularly illuminating on this topic, as well as JY's interview here on Melodic Rock and over at Classic Rock Revisited. Those will give you at least some insight into this.

I hope all is well.

Sure, I've got time. :D

Seriously, I'll look up the stuff on JY's site. Those Classic Rock mags are back issues, has anyone read the articles in question?

ironicly enough, most of us read all the interviews they do. It's the only way to defend or bash them for what they say. It's part of the disease that makes you care about this band.
